Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'the' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'the' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace its angle' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The unit can actually change its angle to be able to see it better also.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone got the new update to address this issue? Local dealer, Sunset Porsche, from who I purchased from, wants to charge me a few hundred dollars to install a 5 minute update. They wont provide the files to fix their software bug. I told them I will just return my unit under warranty. What a PITA!
I wrote a letter to PNA to complain, but probably will never hear back. This is tantamount to having to bring your iPhone to the Apple store for an IOS update, then being charged.
While I generally like the PCCM Plus, I wouldnt purchase again because of lack of support. I installed this in my turbo, and the plan was to also install another PCCM Plus unit in my other 996 if I was satisfied.
I will be moving-on with a non-Porsche solution.
I would consider other options. Some features are lacking like wireless CarPlay and back-up camera interface. The lack of support is a real deal killer for me.
Have you tried writing to PCA/Panorama magazine? You might get a little traction with them. They have a technical dept. as well that has a direct line to Porsche...
All these complaints plus no backup camera support has made me look alsewhere. I have a Kenwood in my 996 love it. The unit can actually change its angle to be able to see it better also. Im looking for another of these for my turbo but supply seems to be unavailable. I guess due to covid lots of electrinica are in short supply.
...but if you do have a MOST system you need lots of extra bits to make the Kenwood work right, (and if you're in Canada, you're also overpaying for every bit of hardware), so it may still be a good option. There are more wireless dongles coming out (probably more cheap copies, to be accurate) which will drive the price of those down. That would allow placement of the media box in the glove box, hidden, with a wireless dongle plugged in. Phone can stay in your pocket or the storage pocket with no clutter.
For me, the only real negative at this point is the lack of a backup camera. There is supposedly a video converter (NavTool) that works with other PCM (not sure of versions, I never had one), but I don't know if it works with the PCCM plus.
The PCCM Plus could be a great product, if Porsche would support the product. Its pretty much plug and play if you have the MOST system.
After sales, there is absolutely no support. Porsche wont even acknowledge that it has several issues.
I am hoping they figure these issues out before releasing the 997 unit. I want to get one for my 997.1 GT3 when they release it next year. Maybe this is a good reason to purchase it from my local dealer if they agree to provide updates at no cost, but I agree that they should be providing the updates on the website and allowing updates at home.
Best of luck solving the issue.
I have a service appointment for broken sunscreen cables at Rocklin Porsche this Friday. Since I'm going to be there I figured I'd ask about firmware availability. I'll report back in this thread on what I find out.
The MOST
(Media Oriented System Transport) is an optical bus which connects most all telematics in MY03-05 Porsches, MY03 Audi A8 and MY03 Mercedes Maybach and some S class cars.
This fiber optic media connects devices such as, CD player, Bose and non Bose devices among other devices.
Besides the trip odometer problem, the
Bose
AudioPilot is not supported.
Another issue is the
music playback on the SD card slot cannot deal with any song's with an apostrophe in the title ('). Which in my experience was at least one song in every album I had on it. Whenever you would start playing a song with an apostrophe in the title the unit would get stuck on that song, attempting to skip forwards of backwards would result in the same song just being replayed and with a lot of songs like this the unit would sometimes crash randomly resetting to the first song it would play when you insert the card and while browsing.
On non-MOST cars, 1999-2002, there are issues
converting the SPEAKER LEVEL to LINE LEVEL
with line-in and line-out where the PCCM will overdrive the amplifier and have distorted sound.
I am not sure there is a fix for this yet.
Thanks, I have been discussing with the guys across the pond. Porsche has an update that is installed at the Porsche Center in the UK. Over in the US, the response I get from several dealers, we heard of the problem but we dont have an update.
The guys in the UK are trying to get a TI or TSB, so I can reference with my local dealer. Hopefully this gets resolved soon, as many of us have been waiting months for the fix.
