Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the switched 12V supply from the factory cell phone connector that is under the center console (under the radio/ac controllers).
Leading evidence: 'Use switched 12v supply' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use blendmount cable...it has a built in fuse' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey........... I have BlendMount products in a couple of my vehicles and plan to add one to my new to me (neused) '04 996. My rearview mirror is a no-frills affair, manually adjustable.
Has anyone here tapped the dome light for powering their detector?

Hey
@dukmon
I followed an old Rennlist guide to do a very similar install that you want to do. I tapped into the sunroof switch. I re-created the guide because all of the photos on Rennlist were so old that they got deleted. Hope this helps you - I'm sure it's not perfect but I tried to be thorough. I tried to write it for people that are not used to doing stuff for this. Pretty easy job.

Yes you can use the dome light housing. I just did it. It's very simple. Pull straight down on the rear of the housing to remove it. As I recall, there are 3 electrical connectors on the back of it. They are all indexed and of a different shape, so no fear of putting them back together wrong. From memory, the white connector has 4 wires it. The green/brown is switched hot. You can confirm this w your voltage tester on the back of the connector...make sure your doors are closed. This connection is hot when the ignition is on. It powers down a few seconds after the ignition is turned off and the door is closed. Once confirmed, you can tap right into it. Find a ground on the sunroof motor mount. Use the blendmount cable...it has a built in fuse.
