Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there i was reversing in a car park and there was a very low wall that i did not see .. it hit the exhaust tip about 2mph and no other damage and i thought nothing of it i saw a pool of coolant under the left hand side exhaust tip this morning with i think the leak coming from the bottle pressure release cap i had a quick look today and there are no pipes behind the rear bumper .. the water pump looks ok would it be possible that a very small bump to the exhaust tip might have cracked the Head and somehow the coolant system is being pressurized there is no water in the oil or visa versa...but i have not driven the car more than 10 km ..

POST 2Original post

More likely you moved the engine on its mount and moved a coolant hose enough to cause a leak. How old are the mounts? Do your best to find the source of the coolant leak.

POST 3Original post

You need to do a little more investigation before any speculation. Preferably , go to an Auto Parts store and get a loaner pressure testing kit and pressure test the cooling system. It will probably be apparent where the leak is . BTW : you will need a Porsche / Audi adapter that doesn't usually come with standard cooling system testers. Use AST FZ-22 adapter.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the mounts are 6 months old . it does seem the system is under very high pressure the leak seems from the bottle .. its far away from the minor impact and its a co-incidence if it was the cap or bottle it happened yesterday
