I am working on restoring the suspension on my 2004 C4S convertible and while I removed the front sway bar i noticed a lot of rust underneath the bushings. I started scraping off the rust on 1 side but i am worried about the reduced diameter that it created. Are these bars solid or hollow and would it better to replace the whole bar rather than sand and replace the bushings. thanks Reno

The bars are hollow. I had a similar thing happen and it ended up eventually cracking down the entire middle of the bar lengthwise. It created a very annoying creaking noise that took me months to diagnose... Never seen that happen before.

wow that's a significant amount of rust. i'd replace the bar with a new one.

^^^ Or a different used one that�s in good shape. A lot of people upgrade the sway bars to adjustable, etc. so if you�re ok with stock they can be had for very reasonable prices... either way, that one should be replaced

Thanks for the replies! I just found a used bar on Ebay for $70 shipped.
