Suggestion

I used the switched power form the phone connector, figuring that if I did not have the keys, there was probably no reason to open the garage from the car and that way there was no any possibility of battery drain at all.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

God, I'm bored. Sitting on the couch with an elevated knee all day really sucks! Here's some stuff I've done in the two months since I picked her up: Blue Sea Systems Dual USB Charger, tapped into phone power lead under front console. The short cord works great for the iPhone6, connected via Bluetooth to my Alpine head unit. Longer cord for the wife's iPad. POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This programmable garage door remote fits perfectly in the ash tray. I also relocated my seat heat switches after deleting the center console. POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheapie Target umbrella fits perfectly!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Center console delete, with Alpine head unit. I'll be replacing the rest of the audio equipment in the next month or so, to include two discreetly mounted amps and replacement of all the factory speakers. I really like the open feeling under the dash, and didn't need the storage space in the console.

POST 5Original post

The center console delete is the best mod you can do to the interior of these cars...looks great!

POST 7Original post

I've never actually seen the interior of a GT3. Surprised there isn't a better shift ****. Also, is the parking brake handle base leather piece oem? Mine has the soft touch paint crap and it's starting to chip.

Ya, but where would you put your phone then?

POST 10Original post

btw the interior of your porsche is amazingly clean. I'm pretty sure I could lick the floor and not think twice about it.

POST 11Original post

Nice job. I had a similiar setup for my garage opener awhile ago but graduated to this OEM looking version. My reception was also improved a bit by locating the transmitter unit in the front.

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 12596014

I have the exact same setup, it works great!

POST 13Original post

Who makes the in dash garage door opener? Thanks

POST 14Original post

I did the same mod for my opener, and it works great! I ordered the targa roof switch, IIRC, and wired it to my garage remote (instructions are somewhere here on Rennlist). Soldering the wire to the circuit board of the remote was the only tricky part, but that is due more to my crappy soldering iron. I did it almost two years ago and have yet to change the battery.

As another said, it's a Targa roof switch you can get at the dealer.

I bought a Homelink xmitter on ebay for around $10 and used an extra switch I had. I went stealth on the switch and painted it with plasti-dip so it looks like a blank. I used the switched power form the phone connector, figuring that if I did not have the keys, there was probably no reason to open the garage from the car and that way there was no any possibility of battery drain at all. If you have more than one opener, you can wire both sides of the switch and use 2 of the 3 homelink positions You just need basic soldering skills and its an easy DIY

Before I did the OEM button mod, I was contemplating on retrofitting in a BMW rearview mirror with compass, auto-dimming, and home-link built in.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 12599921

I was thinking of that as well. Didn't want to have to mess with the wiring. I looked at some after market mirrors as well, and they were big bucks

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In all seriousness though, the more I do to make my wife comfortable in the car or to let her know I'm thinking about her, the more I break down any potential barrier to her enjoying riding in the car! This definitely applies to off-road driving in my other vehicle as well.
