Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that performed work without a confirmed outcome

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check drains and they are clear' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'leak' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check coolant' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anybody here who might've stopped by and taken a leak in your car? Seems like most of the usual suspects for that are in Southern California, but you never know ...
How is your gear changing? Are you sure the damp is water?.. If your gear changing is not smooth it could be a leaking clutch cylinder especially if the damp is near your clutch pedal. Just a thought. Otherwise it must be a blocked drain.
I had the same issue a few months ago. It ended up being my firewall drains. My car is a '99 so I went ahead and did the TSB for the cowl drains. I haven't experienced a recurrence, but admittedly my car also hasn't been in a downpour since then either.
You might also check the big rubber grommets in the firewall, just above where the cowl drains are. One of mine had a hole that I had to patch up with RTV.
Perhaps a passenger's drink spilled. It's common knowledge that the cup holders or depending on model year, lack thereof, are one of the 6,549,423 modes of failure for these cars.
Had a few times where my passenger got the seat and with help floor wet on other cars, and many times where they were damp.
Always kept a towel around, among other things.
That water looks kind of dark. Intermix?
I understand the oil that gets into and stagnates in the intermediate shaft can smell nasty. Maybe your shaft is leaking - which could explain any dampness in the cockpit, especially near the ****.
