My wife went and test drove it first, before me, and she fell in love with it as well.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey everyone! Im Rob. Ive wanted a Porsche 911 since I was 13 years old and Ive always said I would have one by age 50. My wife started searching for me and the right one fell in our laps last week, 10 months before my 50th birthday. I am beyond stoked!
Ive been lurking around the forums the past week and theres so much good information here I am glad to be aboard! Ive enjoyed countless forums with the other cars Ive owned; STI, 350Z, new Camaro, GTI. Its part of a great ownership experience in my opinion.
Shes a 2001 911 Carrera in Rainforest Green Metallic with Savannah beige draped leather interior. Only 61,000 miles on it and then nearly mint condition!
Ive got an appointment next Tuesday at an Indy shop to have the drivers window regulator replaced (wife picked up an OEM part at the dealership). Ill change the fluids and filters myself, as well as the worn-out headlight switch (fog light feature wont stay pulled-out). Other than that, Ive put 700 miles on her in the first week it drives and handles unlike anything Ive ever driven! 😯
Really nice! Welcome to the group! The car looks great. Super fun ahead. You are correct about the this group. You can find ANYTHING here.
How many did you look at before selecting this one? What sold you on it?
Have fun, drive alot!
And just try to not smile when you are done driving it. You can't!
Wow, your 996 looks great in forest green! Is your car factory specced with the standard front and rear bumper covers, as well as no wing, with side skirts?
A local premium used car dealership just happened to have it. It had been on their showroom floor for several months. They had it overpriced, enjoying it as the jewel of the showroom; then lowered the price to make way for another 911 they were bringing in. It seems like most Porsches are silver, black, yellow or red. The green just blew my mind!
It went up on the rack at the local Porsche dealership for a PPI. The dealership said theyd never even seen one in Rainforest Green Metallic. 😁🤘🏼
it just happened to be on the showroom of a local premium used car dealership. My wife went and test drove it first, before me, and she fell in love with it as well. She wanted to give me my dream car before my 50th birthday. GREATEST WIFE EVER! 😍
Yes, I deciphered all the option codes and it was special ordered with the factory side skirts and turbo-look wheels. I think the side skirts are one of the sexiest features! They totally make the side profile...
I swear if it didnt even run, I could just sit and look at it all day!
Ive looked at a half dozen over the last few years, but they were either priced way too high, had too many miles for my taste, or showed evidence of being kept outdoors for most of their lives. Id always wanted one in Guards Red, so I held-out for something different.
Shes a real head-turner in traffic. The car gets a lot of attention! More so than any other sports car Ive owned.
Welcome!
I love the color! that's a rare color. Look around for the history of green 996's. It's interesting.
I'm 55 and picked my first Porsche up last year. Lots of us newbies here.
I would start investigating and working on the engine. Those regulators won't be much good if it doesn't run. I'm still sorting out my engine and will dig in again this year.
Best,
Great looking 911, welcome. Did it come with any other goodies such as sports exhaust? My wife also made me get my 1st 911 in 2019, and she didn't object when I bought my second one in 2020, lol.
Great colors inside and out, I think you have the comfort seat option too. Hollow spokes? Congrats on the car, 50th birthday and having an awesome wife! What are the option codes on the hood sticker?
Thanks buddy. I just know the appearance of the Draped Leather option looks different than the regular 996 seats. Still learning all the options lol. Heres the option codes I deciphered:
Beautiful - I am so envious of the color scheme as its in my top 3 desirables. I ended up with black, simply because my local market has limited supply. So PCar beggars can't be choosers.

I could only see the screenshot at work and figured if there were aero skirts original owner did the same with bumper covers. Then I remembered there isn't an aero rear bumper. Dumb assumption on my part.
We can get 93 octane here.
Unfortunately they use ethanol to obtain the 93 octane.
I liked E85 when I had my twin turbo BMW.
The BMW loved the 108 octane.
Now I wish I could find 93 octane without ethanol.
If I drive 25 miles I can get 92 octane without ethanol.
When I started looking a year ago I found a green one like that for a good price on FB here in San Diego, the only one I'd seen. The young guy was driving it but selling it for his Grandfather who couldn't drive manual anymore. I kept messaging and he kept canceling on me, working odd hours, taking a trip, etc. I told him I'd meet him anywhere anytime then got ignored. My guess is that he posted it on FB and told his Grandfather no one was interested. Smart kid.
Welcome, I too concur with many others on the color it is awesome. Sharp looking ride, reminds me of the 74 Super Beetle I owned in High School (a few decades ago) that was painted that same color and had the same interior color scheme like your 911. It was my first German car and intro to Mr. Ferdinand Porsche's world of car mechanics and beautiful machines, never stopped tinkering with his creations since then.
