Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just tried to dry fit my wing from Misha Designs and I have few concerns. Wanted to see what other folks have experienced with theirs. 1. I had asked about the 4 brake light and they said it was not that critical and no longer available.. However, there is a limited angle that you can see the third brake light with wing installed. 2. The corners of the wing are not shaped to match the existing decklid that it is supposed to sit on. The corners are angled in correctly. 3. The front edge of the wing sits too high as compared to the panel with the third brake light. The will cause a aerodynamic drag as well as limit the view of the third brake light from the rear (hence the need for the 4th brake light). I was told that once installed and pulled down, it should go away. 4. The gap between the wing and the panel with the 3rd brake light is not even. As you look towards the middle of the wing, it is gapped much further away from then at the corners. Can someone tell how much if any additional body work was needed to make it a better fit? Can someone take some pics on how the front edge of the wing matches up with the 3rd brake light panel?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not a big fan of the Taco wing. But I guess it tends to grow on u.

POST 4Original post

Yes the fit is not 100%, but they are one third of the price of anything else, and to me look the best. The top corners can sometimes fall victim to the prep process as too much is sanded down. My top line below the break light still sticks out a bit. But it will go down on yours once you tighten it. These are some picture instructions if you havent seen them yet. https://picasaweb.google.com/misha99...fgl=true&pli=1 I also can take pictures of mine if you want i do have some uploaded right now.

Yes, could please take some of the top line and how it lines up with the 3rd brake light panel. I just wanted to see if mine was way off? What did you use to secure the grills on? Construction adhesive?

POST 6Original post

Seems pretty good considering it's an aftermarket piece.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 12110659

First i cut the corners so they would contour better to the shape of the wing from the back. Then i believe i used PL Premium. I'll try to take some pics tonight, but i know it's not flush with the body edge right below the break light.

Did you paint your grill? Mine came in as silver. My car is black. So, I was thinking of having them painted too. But no sure the paint will hold up.

POST 9Original post

No, mine came black. Sent from my iPhone using Rennlist

Yep, I see your corners are a little mismatched too. But the height seems to match better than mine.

POST 15Original post

If you read or spoke to any of the FRP manufacturers, they all say that you've got do final fitting and finish work. I think what you've got there is well within the tolerance of "fitting & finish work"... A little bondo here, a little sanding/grinding there...

POST 16Original post

Of the 3 I have had the top edge has ALWAYS fit perfect. Have you reached out to them with this concern?

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 12116451

Seriously. Misha is a great guy who will do anything to make things right. He is known for producing some of the highest quality pieces. Why blast him on the web before you even give him a chance?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually, I called them on Tuesday and they were supposed to get back to me on this. They first told me that someone elongated the holes on the hinge to make the deck sit lower, however, mine does not have that much room. Anyways, still waiting to hear back on them....

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 12115662

THIS! It also has A LOT to do with Who the Manufacturer was. IF they're Good, you won't have to do much fitting & finish work! I just took mine to my Body Man & he took care of the rest! It was the ONLY Wing i wanted (i'm Not a fan of the taco wing either)! GL! Show us some Pics when you get it on!

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep, I figured this is what I have to do. I got an estimate of of 150 for painting and 500 for the body work. Going to attempt to make some adjustments myself before taking to body.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 12118425

Sorry, not trying to be a dick. I'm glad you contacted him. $500 body work on his wings seems nuts. I can almost guarantee you he would take that wing back or cover the cost of reasonable body work.

POST 23Original post

I had three quotes for mine. One was $400 the one i went with $300. Authorized Porsche body repair shop wanted $1500! Sent from my iPhone using Rennlist

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally, got the wing repaired and body work done and painted. Here are the results. Ended up spending an additional $250 in body work prep in additional to the painting cost. I ordered the wing on new years day 2105. Instead of the 15-20 days it took 6-7 weeks to deliver. Then I was missing the hardware kit and then they sent that. After fixing the two cracks due to shipping and all the body work needed to make it fit, here is it finally installed. Also, they sent me silver grill material and I then needed to order some black grills from ebay. Left several messages with Misha and still have not heard back from them. Seems like they do not want to deal with it lately.

It could be only me getting over a slight hangover, but from looking at the picture it seems half the intake is covered up and then half the port for the cooling fan... Hopefully it's just the angle of the picture and/or me.

POST 26Original post

It is an optical illusion. There is plenty of space in there. I installed mine last night so I know

POST 27Original post

Tim, any of the same shots by the upper corners and the top of the decklid where it meets the body by the 3rd brake light? Seems weird that DN would have a different version than what you got.

POST 28Original post

I can take some but mine is different as it is for a CAB. The coupe one is too high for the rear clam shell to clear when it retracts the top. The one thing I can say is the other 3 I got from them were for coupes. And this one has a bit more gap at the top near the brake light than my others.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12112768

What is that trim piece that you have on the deck lid near lock striker? Mine is just an opening. I like to cover that spot up too.

POST 30Original post

Too bad you had that kind of experience. Something must have changed in 8 years. Looks great though!

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 12157761

Seems to be dual use for cars with the mezger motor or ones that have the Fabspeed dual intakes for the fresh air. Are you running your K&N dry? I don't see any pink oil on the filter.

POST 32Original post

There's no cover actually, must be just an optical illusion. Had to go look, but it's open just like yours. Sent from my iPhone using Rennlist

Its an EVOMS. I got the K&N kit to clean and refresh it. Just have not gotten to it yet.

LOL

POST 35Original post

Quotes source post: 12159076

From that pic, that certainly does NOT look like an EVOMS but rather the older style K&N kit. EVOMS: K&N older style:

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12159390

You might be right. It came with the car and I was told it was an EVOMS. Need to see if I can find any info on the K&N.
