Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Just wondering if anyone has ever used one of these kits and what they think of them. They advertise a little more grip over the stock, which i wouldn't mind. Just wondering if i should give them a try or stick with stock. Thanks! http://www.specclutches.com/647352/s...6-sp901-522428

POST 2Original post

Are you upping your HP? Stock is capable of handling After market will have some quirks. My stage 2 clutch in M3 is a noisy bugger in nuetral with pedal released.

POST 3Original post

I went with the Spec Stage 1 clutch because I wanted a bit more bite and the kit was a little cheaper than stock. The instructions stated there was a 500 mile or so "break in" period where the clutch might chatter a bit on initial take off in first or reverse, especially at low speeds. Boy, they weren't kidding! I really thought I'd screwed up royally by going with this clutch. But sure enough, after about 500 miles it settled in and is perfect now.

That's nice to hear. So is there a bit more bite? Does it feel in any way different than stock SACHS?

POST 5Original post

It does seem to be a bit more aggressive than stock. As I said, I'm happy with it. I bought mine from Pelican since I was buying the IMS bearing from them, but afterwards I found that you can buy the kit directly from Spec for about $100 cheaper (as of the fall 2013). I think I paid around $600 for the kit.

POST 6Original post

Yea, the clutch I have in the M3 was newly installed by Previous owner. He said he din't like it as it seemed to be chattery and such. As I drove the car home I came to red light and launched the car real hard 5K RPM dump and floor it. You get some really cool double black lines. Stinky clutch smell and a 5 gallon bucket of giggles. After than you can "creep the car" down the drive way smooth as a baby's booty.
