Yeah - check the drain at rest with clamp meter or in-line amp meter in positive battery cable.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I simply put my battery on an overnight charge and was back to normal next day.
I have an appointment today with Momentum Porsche in Houston to check out the continuous switching noise in my passenger side door panel. I was afraid this would kill my battery. CRAP, I was right..... Went out this morning and it was stone cold dead. I discovered last Friday a switching noise in my garage. After close examination, the noise appeared to be coming from my passenger door area. The switch noise occurred when the car was unlocked, locked, running or turned off. I immediately drove it to the dealership, they could not look at it then. So I made an appointment for today. I will try to jump start the car and drive it to the dealership. I am really bummed.
15 year old sports car.
I just replaced my 5 year old Bosch battery with a new one
After doing a bunch of online searching, I found a Bosch H8/size 49 one for $125 installed at Pep Boys
You can use a 94r/H7 or the 49/H8 at least in my 04 Targa. The H8 is a little larger and was what was in my car. For some reason the H8/49 is less expensive than the H7/94r. Go figure???
Pep boys has a discount code that will show up when you go to the online checkout that is 30% off. The first code they show is 25% off, but for orders over $100 m, you can use the 30% off code
25% Off Online Orders over $75 or 30% Off Online Orders over $100
Use promotional code 25OFF754U at checkout to receive 25% Off Online Orders over $75. Use promotional code 4USPRING30 at checkout to receive 30% Off Online Orders over $100
@JayG thanks for the discount codes.
going to get it installed tomorrow.
interestingly only Bosch Premium Performance Battery Group Size H6/L3/48 showed up as i entered my '99 car info. i'll see what other sizes they have tomorrow when i get there.
Yeah, I'm sailing pretty close to the coast, too. My battery seems to sink down to about half pretty routinely and I'm hitting with a trickle charge once a month. The battery is older (looks great, though), so I'm waffling a bit on whether to just replace it.....

Its all the computers that are running 24/7 in our cars. Doesn't matter what we do, the electrical demands of the cars are eating the batteries alive.
Just reading a very early Porsche booklet for the "Porsche 900 series"...including the 912, 911T, 911E and 911S. No date in the material but it is for USA models. All cars are rated at 12volts...the notes on the 911E and 911T both mention of using two batteries.
Yes even back then there was a growing increase in electrical demands. We should not be surprised at how much our own cars are using. The simple five days of non use and the key remotes won't work says it all.
I have never had a problem with starting my car if I lock it fully each time I leave it. Even in a locked garage. It takes more power to keep our cars unlocked than it does to be locked. After 5 days the car door is timed via the computer NOT to open via the key button. That is another way it saves on the battery. The other way then is manually opening the door with the key in the lock method. However I must stress here that most if not ALL of my driving is in daylight hours PLUS very rarely do I listen to sounds on radio, discs or cassette player. The one time when my battery give out was about 2 years ago when I was opening and closing the cabrio top via the key in the door method without the engine running. I had only just discovered that the top could be moved via the key in the drivers door method and I was playing around with it like a kid in a candy store until the top stopped midway. I simply put my battery on an overnight charge and was back to normal next day.
I got over 7 years on an OEM battery. Did not leave me stranded but was sluggish to turn her over when hot - meaning the car. Decided to replace instead of waiting for a DOA situation. I wouldn't call that eating batteries alive.
The disabling of the remote after not starting or unlocking the car after 5 days is by design, to prevent discharge of the battery. In addition, luggage compartment lighting, interior light and radio are switched off two hours after the key is removed from the ignition. All by design.
All correct and the normal current draw with the car armed should be less than 50mA. Our batteries are about 70~80AH so it takes about a month to drain about half of the battery capacity.
Yeah - check the drain at rest with clamp meter or in-line amp meter in positive battery cable. Mine was drawing. lot more than 50ma - turned out to be failing diodes in the alternator - had alt rebuilt and now battery starts car like fresh - even after 10 days in garage - of course if you battery is more than 5 years old you are probably on borrowed time
