Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just received my 2003 Targa Tiptronic from Flat Six Innovations. It now has a reconstructed 4.0 Street Performer 1 engine. The dyno numbers were 285 HP and 263 TQ. The original engine was running but had bore scoring at 71k miles. Thanks to Jake, Jud and crew for another exceptional build on time and budget.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think the original 3.6 engines were 300 HP at the crank, so with a deduct of 15% for the drive line, it would be around 255 at the wheels, and probably even less for a Tiptronic.

Interesting. Nice car by the way. Can you notice the difference in power?

It will get better as you put on the miles. I have about 13k miles on my 3.4 to 3.6 Street Performer in my '99 C2. The more I drive it, the better it gets! Amazing..

POST 8Original post

Very nice! Hope to see it around here in Mn. Do you happen to be near the western suburbs of mpls?

POST 10Original post

I miss my Targa so bad. Yes, I did upgrade to a 996TT, the driving experience of the Targa with the top open though is not the same. A FSI build would be awesome. Enjoy that car!

POST 12Original post

Super nice. I think the engine is probably putting out close to 350HP, IIRC, the tip/diff suck about 20% from the crank.

Yes, I live in Greenfield, are you a NS member?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all of the nice comments. I never drove the car before buying. Also never driven a Tip. Looking forward to getting it broken in the rest of the way starting today. Plenty of seat time in my 996 at the track with the car in my avatar. The FSI engine in that puts down around 365 RWH. So it will be a interesting comparison. Looking forward to some touring in a car that is turn key and go, including heat and air! My 356 doesn't have any heat and only 2/55 air conditioning.

minnetrista for me. I have let my NS membership lapse....need to renew. my 03 targa X51. It would be nice to see the difference in performance between our cars...

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It would be interesting, but if you have a stick, you probably have the edge. Prior to the race engine, my track 996 had a X51, with some tuning we got it to 318 RWHP.

318 RWHP is impressive, what modifications / tuning did you do?

Can you post the dyno graph ? I'd like to see the torque curve.

POST 23Original post

Would be interested to know how you got 318 rwhp, as well.
