Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I haven't drive my car for almost 2 month. Now the battery is totally dead...LOL. I tried to open the engine lid and jump the car. However, after I followed the insturction by the mannel. I can open my luggage lid, but not my engine! I use the battery of my audi to do that.. Who can help me ? this link is the same as what I do. http://perryandcoblog.com/2009/11/17...hood-solution/

POST 2Original post

Right, the battery is in the front in the middle under the plastic cover just past the water tight seal under the windshield.

POST 3Original post

So pull the plastic cover off the battery and jump it. To be clear the battery is in the front trunk and not in the rear by the engine. Good Luck!

POST 4Original post

You might have to do as I did: Jump the car with another car using the system explained in your manual. i.e. in the fuse box pull out the jumper fuse and connect the positive to it, place the neg. (clamp it to the body under the car) in the jack hole / pad. This is a better bond for the grounding than the door latch as suggested in the manual. This should allow you open the front hood and replace the battery....I found Pep Boys had the correct battery for $99.00 best price as compared to Sears ($139.00) and Firestone ($198.00)... Ed

POST 5Original post

^^^He has the front trunk open but sounds like he doesn't know where the battery is.

POST 7Original post

Pete, maybe you can answer a question, can't seem to post a picture on my correspondence. URL? Not to savvy tec wise.

When you reply click on the advanced button and than click on the paper clip symbol. That will open a window where you can browse for the file type / image you want to upload or attach. If you are doing that and it does not allow you maybe the file size might be the issue. Than you will have compress or reduce the file size before you can upload it. Hope that helps.

Thanks man .My car looks exactly like your pic!

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 8335114

I would. You can connect to the + pole and connect to the u-bracket for the hood latch for the -. The reason you don't go direct to both poles on the battery is for fear of blowing the battery up.....I have to admit that I have done that several times throughout the years and have not had an issue.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll try that.. The problem is my cable is not long enough. I am going to jump the car now. Should I just pull out of my battery and disconnect with my porshce and then jump it? Or still leave it in my car and jump it? The idea way is to connect those two points in my rear lib. However can't open it..lol

POST 15Original post

Huh? Leave the battery in the Porsche. Take another car and get it close to the Porsche battery. Connect the JUMPER cables from the Porsche to the donor car. Let the donor car run for 10 minutes while connected to the Porsche.......than start the Porsche and disconnect the cables in reverse of the way you put them on and don't let them touch each other.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am doing it now .Jump it with my 2010 audi a4.. I runned my audi for 5 minutes and jump my porsche the first time ..Failed...I am waiting for another 5 min...LOL. Porsche seems really hard to jump....

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

a little .Jump "dada" than stop. I am going to try this time.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

wow~~It works!! awesome! Thanks!

POST 20Original post

Good deal and glad to help. Might be a good idea to look at a new battery in the near future. Now go drive to charge that thing back up.

POST 21Original post

Shanbin the battery can be jumped while removed from the car. Good battery chargers aren't as brute force as hooking a battery to a dead battery. I think battery's only have so many times they can stand being jumped with high amp full power before the plates give up. Slow and low power on a battery helps remove the sulfer from the plates which is good. There are little devices that do this low powered charge to keep a battery charged while not driving the car. I think you could use one of these small trickle chargers. It's takes it easy on the battery and it's what I use. I'm using and old 1970's charger that has 6 and 12 volts levels of charge. You can run an extension cord to the car and leave these little chargers on over night or charge during the day and the battery should be good after a few hours or more. Don't ever try jumping some of the old british cars. Besides driving on the wrong side of the road they ground positive and hook negative to things to be powered. Makes batterys explode if trying to jump if the cars come in contact or you use a cars body or engine for a ground. You can jump these cars but it has to be pole to pole on the batterys. Enjoy the rides. I guess you are forced to drive the car more now. Just a note, idling the car to charge isn't as good as a long cruise with the rpm up. Go on some nice cruising to see the countryside and you'll be good and so will the car. You also might want to check if the battery is near its end of life cycle date. Since its plate are metal in acid that date or earlier is when the battery fails so get a new battery before is always good. Jumping, heavy charging or letting the battery get low shortens the life cycle.
