Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On a side note, I have the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes and am thinking about their cat bypass pipes now...however it the system looks very simple, should I chop off my cats and run a x-pipe to connect them?
Leading evidence: 'Use btw)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). You can pick up a good used set of cat bypass pipes for around $350-400, Not worth chopping your cats off.

I've seen quite a few used sets around $350 on the avg on eBay.

996p that is what I've read/heard that the low end power decreases but at wot over 4-5 rpm it opens up a bit...for $350-400 I'll buy a set, I just have a hard time justifying $600-$700 for two 2 foot pipes like the ones I've seen.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Fellas
I have my original mufflers just collecting dust and I'm very tempted to try the carnewal hack. But before I bust out my cutting grinder and welding torch and start chopping the crap out of them I wanted to see if anyone knows what exactly gets gutted from the internals. I have been searching for two straight days and cant find any info. Whole bunch of youtube clips on the sound (btw it sound pretty awesome) but no DIY instructions or anything in that sort.
Not exactly sure what the carnewal mod is exactly but you can remove the last sound chamber if you want moderate sound or you can also remove the middle baffle and cut the three internal pipes back some for even more sound.
On a side note, I have the fabspeed muffler bypass pipes and am thinking about their cat bypass pipes now...however it the system looks very simple, should I chop off my cats and run a x-pipe to connect them? The price I sell the cats for will probably pay for the mod as well!
If anyone's done this, or just put pipes in place of the cats, please let me know/pm me, I appreciate it.
*disclaimer: I will get the o2 sensors coded out so no CEL and I live in Michigan so no problems with emissions or testing for them here...yet..
If I were you, I'd just sell my cats(or keep them as a backup) and just get the cat bypass pipes to begin with. You don't wanna chop off your perfectly good cats imo.
If you're gonna go with cat bypass, I'd just do the normal configuration. The X configuration without cats has been known and dyno'd to reduce low - mid power. The X doesn't really give you that much more power but just gives you a more pleasant sound first and foremost.
Here's another alternative 996 exhaust pieces and I've had good experience with these guys before:

You can pick up a good used set of cat bypass pipes for around $350-400, Not worth chopping your cats off. I used to have the fabspeed bypass pipes on my car until I got pulled over and got off with a warning. They were sold to a fellow rennlister. Very nice growl up to 4k rpm and they would scream like a virgin as soon as you hit that pedal hard. But like Alp said it has its good and bad sides. I did notice a little decrease in low end power and an increase in high end, and the engine would rev more freely.

Where would I find the ones your talking about, or do you mean used? (I'm not against used btw).
Thanks Alpine that is good to know.
Other worry I have is, would headers, cat bypass pipes and my existing muffler bypass pipes be too outrageous.
Even the muffler and cat bypass pipes, would that cause too many alarms to go off and everyone to hate me?
Your neighbors are not going to like you that's for sure. When I had them on my car they were mated to Gemballa headers and Gemballa mufflers with the gundo hack. So yeah they're pretty loud. Try looking at ebay and craigslist for a used pair. They also pop up in the forum every now and then. I had bought mine from a fellow rennlister and sold it to a another fellow rennlister.
