Replaced my IMS approximately 1 year ago after finding significant metal in the oil filter. I have driven about 5K miles on the new IMS including 6 track days. I'm happy to report when I changed my oil yesterday I found no metal flakes in the filter. I decided to go with Joe Gibbs DT40 oil, moving from Schafer's. I am really surprised at the very noticeable difference in the smoothness of the engine. It's like butter. Based on first impressions, I would highly recommend the Joe Gibbs oil.

Were you expecting to find metal flakes 1 year later? I changed my IMS 2 years ago and that's the last thing I expect to see. Honestly I wasn't completely certain what I going to get, since my IMS was bearing appeared to be relatively intact. There was a fair amount of debate on this forum whether I should replace it or monitor for awhile. In a way, I feel this validated updating the bearing was the right decision vs. tossing a few $K down the drain.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
