Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Haven't gotten it fixed yet, but I had it looked at by two shops and neither mentioned anything like that.

Guys I need some advice. My 2001 996 Turbo got hailed out. The insurance company looked at it today and came up with a figure of 10,000 to fix. It included PDR on the hood and roof. I talked with one of my friends and he is telling me that it may cause structural instability to do PDR on the roof and hood. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks Tim

I got some minor hail damage this spring on my hood, roof and fenders. Haven't gotten it fixed yet, but I had it looked at by two shops and neither mentioned anything like that. Not sure why PDR on the hood would cause a problem. I think a 996TT has some additional chassis fortification also. I would consult a body shop that regularly works with Porsches for a professional opinion. You might also post this on the 996TT forum for additional expertise.

No, your friend is wrong. The hood is not a load bearing or structural component and the only way you would lose strength in the roof is if a section of it was removed or it was severely distorted (like a tree falling on it). Go ahead with the PDR

I had a pdr guy remove a few dents from my car and they can really do a great job. You can't tell there was any work done.
