Looks like the day it was installed after 20 years.

My '99 996 C2 came with what looks to be Turbo tips installed by the previous owner.

Suggestion
I've tried adjusting then and moving them back in with some success but have run out of adjustment space.

Suggestion
FWIW, I've run across a couple 996's that had the dual tips and the smaller /outer was the outlet for the PSE valve..

If I had it to do again I would have just purchased a cheap chinese set off of eBay.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey, all! Any thoughts on exhaust tips for aesthetic mods for the 996.1 NB (Ive got a Cabrio)? Im thinking of something along the lines of a quad tip look but Im not sure whats out there.
Are there differences between the 996.1 and 996.2 tips?
Yes the length of the tip is longer in a mk2. The bumpers in the mk2 r more vertical and dont wrap under the car so it hides the difference. Mk2 tips witt a mk1 and 2 bumper.
I decided I wanted the best tips so I purchased the Fabspeed "quad" tips.
I was underwhelmed.
If I had it to do again I would have just purchased a cheap chinese set off of eBay.
The Fabspeed tips have rusted about like you would expect a cheap pair.
These came with the car when I purchased it and seem to hold up well. No idea who manufactures them and the only markings are 996 SHORT RIGHT and 996 SHORT LEFT
The only complaint I have is the drivers side is rotated clockwise by a few degrees and does not have the range of motion to rotate back.
I bought the ebay ones and love them on my 996.1. I have them sticking out a little to be flush with aero kit on rear bumper.
1 Pair Quad 304 Stainless Dual Out Exhaust Tips for Porsche Carrera C2 911 996 | eBay
[QUOTE=Atgani;18515678]There's only one choice (IMO) the Tequipment EP4110 items. Not cheap but sculpted to suit the Mk1 bumper cut outs perfectly, and superb quality :

I agree, also known as X54 option........
My '99 996 C2 came with what looks to be Turbo tips installed by the previous owner. I can live with them for now, but they protrude out a bit far for me. I've tried adjusting then and moving them back in with some success but have run out of adjustment space.
Interesting discussion...
My car came with a Fabspeed exhaust and the quad tips, which I don't like so much. Does anybody know if I can fit those "tequipment-style" tips on my Fabspeed exhaust?
I agree -- they look amazing, perfect fit, and there is nothing even a little bit cheap about the quality in my experience. Here is a prior thread discussing these eBay tips:

A bit of a dredge but I've gotten tired of polishing my factory exhaust tips only to have them discolor a week later. I also need to adjust them upwards, now that the engine is in with all new mounts, and the clamps are as rusted as one would expect for a 112K mile car. I was thinking of Fabspeed but after reading
@TexSquirrel
comments I will be crossing them off my list. Plus to be honest I am not crazy about the twin tip look. I'd like a single, oval, tip. The Tequipment tips won't work for me because I have a 996.2. I'm looking at these "Tubi-style" tips, does anyone have experience with them?

I have a Fabspeed exhaust and I love it. All stainless steel including the tips. Looks like the day it was installed after 20 years. Don't take them out of contention.
There are a few different flavors of the "twin tips" -- I'm not a fan of the side-by-side look (they look too wide for the space to my eye), but the eBay twin tips have a more compact shape that takes up about the same space as the ovals. The quality is superb, despite the inexpensive. Mine are 6 years old, still look like brand new. I couldn't get my original ovals to look good either, but the eBay tips are awesome. Get lots of compliments on them.

I think its a pre-2000 thing both time I've seen it they had the yellow headlights.
You might need engine mounts looking at that gap above the tip. It's stragne, from that angle, they look like aftermarket tips instead of the OEM ones.
