Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My hood badge fell off the pins. I have tried JB weld, didnt hold the torque of reattaching the nuts. I have taken it to a jeweller to see if they could laser weld them. Not an option for me. I even tried solder but couldnt get a strong enough bond. I had a spare (refinished in black) but two days of searching makes me feel I put it somewhere really safe. Lol. I have to buy a new one. The original for our cars is more expensive than the newer version . Anyone know if the newer badge fits our cars? It looks like the pins are the same placement. Just wondering if the convex shape is the same? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I just experienced the same thing on my 2002. I stopped in at the local porsche dealership parts dept, asked them what badge, they ordered me one and I put it on in about 5 min a few days later. Fit perfectly. Can't remember the exact price but think it was around $100.

POST 3Original post

$162.50 at Pelican. Includes new gasket and nuts: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...11-01-KIT&bc=c

POST 4Original post

I just replaced mine last week with an original one 99655921101 IMO its worth it to get the original since its not that much more

POST 5Original post

The original is much nicer, I remember buying a newer one and immediately buying a new original. The difference is the newer version is completely flat i.e. when you run your fingers over it its smooth. The original you can feel all the elements and details.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I have ordered an original. I agree, it will be nice to have it back as it should be. Thanks for the feedback! Jeff

POST 7Original post

I find that most more modern looking parts (like badges, but also - steering wheels, lamps etc) look mostly out of place on a car like this. It's always good to use period-accurate parts imo
