Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My fusebox is missing the magic red electrode and the Ctek charger through the cigarette lighter does not work. The controller just shuts off. So it is my guess that I have to carefully place a 12v potential someplace in this box. Does anyone know away of opening my trunk? Thanks

POST 3Original post

It is often times better to open the engine lid with the emergency release cable. Put some painters tape on your bumper just below the drivers side tail light. Then use a plastic wedge to make some space between the bumper and tail light. Make a hook and fish around under the tail light to find the emergency release for the engine lid. You can then use the jump points in the engine bay to hook up a source of 12V, like a new battery. That should power up everything and you can get your frunk open. Replace your battery, it sounds like it is completely dead. Once the frunk is open, do yourself a big favor. Pop the frunk front plastic cover off, locate the frunk emergency release cable (it is attached to the frunk latch) and relocate it to just inside the bumper tow hook plug. Next time a battery dies, remove the tow hook plug and WOW, the emergency release cable is right there. The earlier 996's don't have the "magic red electrode".

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
