Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2000 911 996 automatic coupe with a good engine, but otherwise just OK. I have the opportunity to purchase a 1999 911 996 manual transmission coupe in good shape but with a blown engine, at a great price. Will the 2000 motor go in the 1999 without any problems? Transaxles stay put. Just a motor swap. I believe there was a change from cable throttle to "drive by wire". Can this be easily handled? if so how? Any other complications? Thanks for any help. John

POST 2Original post

Easy swap. Motor is identical. U will have to use the 99 tb harness and computer.

Does not matter if it's egas. See De Jeepers post above.

As i saId it doesnt matter. The motor is the same. Things that bolt to the motor may be different.....thats why u swap original parts to the new motor.

POST 8Original post

FWIW Ive got a 2000 MY (M96/04) in my 99 C4 While I didnt do the swap, Ive had the engine out and I can attest that there are no extra/loose wires or connectors - ie. nothing out of the ordinary. The only caveat being the difference between the tiptronic and the manual trans in your case

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
