Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

BTW, the CP Sensor is easy to replace also, just remove one bolt and unplug....
Leading evidence: 'Replace also, just remove one bolt and unplug' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace also, just remove one bolt and unplug' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just wanted to share a Tip/Trick that may get someone out of a jam on a hot stall/ no start issue on 996..
Note:: Can be used to aide in diagnostics also...
If you have a hot engine stall and/or a no start hot issue on a 996 from a failing Crank Position Sensor,( no fault codes will show up from a Scan) a shot of Carb Cleaner (or equivalent) directly on the Sensor and surrounding area will get you out of a jam without having to be towed or waiting for hours for everything to cool off.. The CP Sensor can be seen by looking through the left rear wheel at the engine/transmission parting line ..Pretty easy to see and spray with something to cool it off.
I used this trick on Sally ( 23 years old 190K miles) to get out of a jam recently at my Grandsons Birthday party 50 miles from home on a Sunday...Quick, Easy, Painless...
( also verified by reproducing the symptoms at home a few times/spraying the Sensor to restore function)
It's about lowering the Crank Position Sensor temperature below the fault threshold ...I found the fault occurred after the engine had been ran for a period of time where everything was at maximum operating temp and then was at a stop with no airflow under the car . This raises the temperature of the Sensor considerably.. As long as the car was moving the Sensor remained below the fault Temp threshold..
Any liquid of room temperature or less that can be propelled a distance 24-30 inches will have the same effect and lower the Sensor temperature to restore function..A 50F drop in temperature is enough to restore function, and the vehicle can be driven..
A water bottle with a small exit hole that can be squeezed and propel a 24-30 inch stream is a good tip. Probably more people would have that available than would have a can of Carb/Brake Cleaner...I actually had neither but there was an AutoZone right next door I walked in and bought a $3.99 can of carb cleaner to spray my CP Sensor and went on my way...lol
