@Paul: to my knowledge the pipes are brazed to the rails, a leak there could be repaired by redoing the braze.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi , I am new to this forum, I am rebuilding a 996 3.4 c2 1998 , I have the engine out replacing the whole steel breaking system with Kunifer copper piping, And I have a fuel leak in the offside fuel rail. so I am looking at getting a good secondhand pair of rails with the pipes on as they are bonded to the rail . can anyone help please , They are not easy to find. Paul

POST 2Original post

What? What is a "whole steel breaking system"? What is an "offside fuel rail"? What is "Kunifer copper piping"? Just asking Paul.

POST 3Original post

I have a fuel rail from my blown 2000 motor it has the integrate ac compressor fuel cooler. If this will work im sure we can make a deal. It would ship from 19810. I also have mk2 injectors that were modified for an mk1 with less them 500 miles on them if interested.

He means all of the factory brake lines that are made of steel. Offside is the opposite of nearside (=kerb side) as used in British English and since they drive on the left, the kerb is on the left side. As such offside is the RHS. I.e. bank 2 for you. He meant Cunifer, an alloy of Copper (Cu), Nickel (Ni) and Iron (Fe, Cu-Ni-Fe'r get it?) used for corrosion-resistant (or even free?) brake lines. A popular replacement in the UK for steel brake lines that corrode quicker in the UK than anywhere else in the world as the roads are sprinkled with a salt in winter time that transforms into (or is mixed with) hydrochloric acid to fight ice and snow on the road... @Paul: to my knowledge the pipes are brazed to the rails, a leak there could be repaired by redoing the braze. Even a pinhole leak in the rail itself could be brazed to seal it, I'd think?

I have a 99 fuel rail with lines I can sell you for $150

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Hardtailer for explaining all of that, I am new at this so I should have explained it better, But you are spot on with your translation. The hoses 2 off them are rubber and are bonded on to each rail, Why they did not use a braided screw on hose I do not understand. I wanted to just buy one and change it over , but I might now have to get it braised or something like that, The problem is it is just so rusty. Thanks for the reply

Hi 996clubsport, could you send me a picture so I can see it is the correct one please, I am very interested as this is holding me up. Paul

But do check prior to putting all the work of replacing the brake lines that your national (public) road authority deems them a street legal replacement. Up until recently it wasn't the case in Germany for instance.

POST 11Original post

I also have one with the fuel cooler option if needed and the AC compressor to mach.
