Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys can you give me some help/direction to secure the right rear bumper "bun?" Not sure what the proper name is. I think it must have been bumped somewhere; not detached but loose at the top. I hope you can see in this very short video. Thanks for your feedback!

POST 2Original post

Under the bumper bun? (Theyre actually called bumperettes)... Youll see a hole - if you shine a light up in there youll see a Allen Key set screw... I believe its an 8mm but dont quote me on it. This set screw sits into a v channel which allows you to move the bumperette back and forth to adjust spacing. It possible that the screw has loosened up a little or even enough to fall out completely...

POST 3Original post

If it’s a 996.2 (or at least on mine), it attaches slightly differently than dporto is describing, and attaches by the backside...meaning you have to remove the bumper cover to get at it. Fortunately the bumper cover comes off very easily with just a few screws.

POST 4Original post

Hmmm... sorry I never looked at your video... as mentioned above my description is for the 996.1 bumperettes... I cant help you with the 996.2s... carry on!

POST 5Original post

Strange. Mine is a 2004, C4S, so a 996.2, and the bumperettes attach with hex bolts from the bottom as initially described. Guess OP will just have to look.

POST 6Original post

C4S uses the Turbo bumper, which uses the .1 style of bumperette attachment.

Amazing. The More You Know...

POST 8Original post

I have an '04 C4S and the bumperrete is secured with a hex screw from underneath.
