Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was all over this site and others contemplating the purchase of a 996. About two years ago I had to sell my 987.1 (which I loved) due to the panic of what is a child getting ready for college! Well, now that all the dust has settled and he has completed his 1st year of the University life and I now know what it will cost me. I and the wife decided to give this P car thing one more try. Picked up a 2003, 6spd, guards red, Carrera with 50k on the odometer and fell in love with the 1st drive. Very different than the 987. Working on getting the IMS replaced and the RMS just as preventive high blood pressure medicine. Other then that this vehicle is clean, no dings, no scratches and the interior is flawless. Price?...that's between me and God. Here to learn as much as possible about this new (to me) vehicle.

POST 2Original post

That's a great looking 911 in a classic color. Enjoy it.

POST 3Original post

Looks amazing! Don't know why but I always love others red cars but never wanted to own one! So strange!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the compliments. Just ordered H&R and Koni kit, should be here next week. Will update pics. Heres another for good measure.

POST 9Original post

Watch the guy lurking in the background. Looks like a shady character has his eye on your 996!

POST 10Original post

Congrats! Nice car! I just picked an 03 too in Feb. loving it. Which Koni/HL setup did you get?

POST 15Original post

Nice car. I just got my, new to me, '03 C2 just over 3 weeks ago. Previous owner was very diligent with service and had much done to the car. Car currently has 95,000 kms, so it was no garage queen and has a few war wounds to show for it. The car has the following: - ROW suspension/ride height - Fabspeed Plenum, manifold, pipes, highflow cats - Tubi style cans - IMS/RMS/clutch redone 2.5 years ago by Porsche dealer - GT3 rockers - sport seats - 18" wheels The rest is pretty much standard fare... The stereo is terrible, but honestly, I just lower the windows and listen to that exhaust note Hope I have good luck with her. If you read too much online, it sounds like we're driving around in ticking time bombs.

POST 17Original post

Great looking car with some very nice options/upgrades. Good luck and Enjoy!

POST 18Original post

Guards red IS the fastest color. Word is that they make an extra 20 hp at the wheels.

Really NICE Ride, Congrats! You don't look old enuff' to have a child fixin' to start college (or IS that your child) What's the Biggest Difference you think was between driving the 987.1 & this one?

POST 22Original post

Curious too to hear your impressions vs 987.1. I previously owned a base 987.2 and and the only 911 I've driven was a brief 5-10 min drive in a first gen 996 cab tiptronic, my 987 was pdk so the transmission was obv better but there was something appealing about the 996, it felt torquier, smoother and more compliant and sounded great with the top up. Btw where in Texas are you located, I recently started seeing very similar car to yours (same color, wheels & tint) at my workplace in Austin, maybe it's yours :-D

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Compared to the 987.1 I had power delivery (to me) was the biggest difference. 996 has power through out the rev range. the 987 was a build up. the 987 was more confidence inspiring in the twisties as where the 996 im sure can hold its own (just requires a little more concentration and respect). the nose seams a lot lighter on the 996 too. loved both equally for different reasons. oh no not from Austin. just got my suspension in will try to install this week...if time permits

POST 24Original post

Very sweet, let the mods begin! a slippery slope indeed.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@Randy308, beautiful color and stance on your 996. thumbs up!

Nice pics, is that a GT3 cup front splitter? I'm thinking of putting one on my car.

POST 27Original post

Yes thats correct, the cup splitter!

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

SITTING PRETTY ON THE SUSPENSION SET UP...NOTHING FANCY. PLAYING AROUND WITH SOME PHOTO EFFECTS.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just touched up the interior a little with some Dupli Color bed liner coating. Stuff is really tuff and covers just about everything. Worked great on the ignition surround and the scuff plates. texture is very close to oem...and it contains flex agents so no cracking. installing F1 motor mounts tomorrow. Will update with pics.

POST 30Original post

Next step for me would be a subtle spacer for the rear wheels - maybe 10mm - to fill out the rear wheel wells. Looks very nice on the lower suspension BTW. You can buy textured rattle can paint from Rust O Leum that is similar but not quite so heavily textured so that might be an option as well.

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^ noted thanks...spacers already on. actually went with 5mm rear and 12mm front. should have done 10mm rears. will update pics soon.
