Yes, could have connected using a much more simple solution but wanted to try something different.

Some people say that they have good luck using a paper clip but I could never do it.

These round pins are removed by using a thin tube that slips between the pin and the housing from this side.

Another is to use wire taps to splice into each wire and then do the same on the other side and connect them that way.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've read Workshop manual, Bentley's Service manual and some Pelican Parts docs but I'm still not sure what is the correct procedure.
Ok, another issue - I'm not able to open convertible top completely because the driver's side side flap is stuck in closed position. I do have a new microswitch available but how to install that?
I've read Workshop manual, Bentley's Service manual and some Pelican Parts docs but I'm still not sure what is the correct procedure.
A follow up - removed those two bolts that holds that bracket in place. On that workshop manual they have a few obvious typos so I'm not sure how accurate that is in general. Should I be ready to just lift the bracket after removing those bolts?
It seems to be stuck probably somewhere below but since it's literally impossible to see what's behind that bracket so I'm just wondering how to proceed.
You should remove the long black piece that covers the roll bar so you can see more. I have my roll over bar pulled out since I am converting to a race car. I have not tried to detach the black flip up pieces yet though that you have stuck. I may be able to pull it off tomorrow or atleast take some pictures of where all it is attached for you. Also, if you end up needing a new piece I can help with that too as I am selling all of that stuff out of mine. Wish I could give you answer today, but cant. This is all ai got right now which is a pic I took a few weeks ago. Not sure it helps too much though.
Ok, I removed that roll bar cover but this is still a bit of a mystery - the microswitch is located so that unless there's a way to somehow move that bracket downwards the main aluminium block where the bracket is attached blocks the microswitch movement outwards. In theory I could manually rotate the allen key so that the flap moves up which in theory allows the bracket to drop down a bit but if the top is in service mode one of the supporting bars block the flap opening properly and I don't want to force that.
Another option is that there are those two screws that holds the microswitch in place - If I loosen those the microswitch is loose and I could maybe remove the flap bracket but those are so small screws that I'm not sure if that's a wise thing to do especially when the flap is kind of blocking the way to properly open those.
So please anyone who has done this before what's the secret there.
Thanks - you can post a couple of more pictures - somehow that looks a bit different from what I have or maybe it's the orientation. Can you show how the upper part also looks like. I'm trying to figure out how to get that flap bracket removed so that I can access that upper microswitch as well. Currently that is behind that big aluminium frame and I can't figure out what's the proper method to get that out.
Pls check those pictures above - there are those two aluminium things - the other one holds the flap and the other one is the huge frame - how to separate those two?
Thats from the top. Those are only 2 pics i took. Really not much else I can do for pics. Mine appears like popping those 2 plastic pieces out and little screws. Also would prob need to remove the 4 bolts holding the hardtop mount in place which it does not look like you have. I cant get a pic down in there because of it. I plan to reuse those mounts though and will take out in couple days probably. Not there for long periods of time this week for personal reasons. little time apart but i will be there off and on. I plan to pop all of that stuff off to sell so if I am there for a longer period over next few days I will pop them off and tell you how.
Good news - I managed to get that bracket finally out - what was needed was that moving part of flap bracket is around midway or so (use that allen key) and then you pull that bracket outwards and at the same time twist counterclockwise - also carpet was removed.
The main thing is to get that moving part low enough that it can come out of the hole when you twist it. Kind of simple after you figure out how things should be. Next step is to replace those microswitches - there are tiny pieces like those clips that holds the lower microswitch.
Another setback - this is starting to resemble AOS replacement. How to get those molex connectors out - I know there are pins that holds those connectors in place but those connectors are so tightly in those holes that it's almost impossible to put there to push to pins.
The connector itself is also a pain... it's hard plastic but soft enough to make a mess.
There are pushable pins that holds terminal in one piece but as they have used hard plastic I'm not sure if it is a good thing to try to press those without cracking them and breaking the whole connector at the same time.
Cutting the wires out of connector and splicing together is an option. Another is to use wire taps to splice into each wire and then do the same on the other side and connect them that way.
These round pins are removed by using a thin tube that slips between the pin and the housing from this side. I made some from thin roof flashing, so look for thin metal in your hardware store. Then roll it into a tube.
You also push the wire into the connector from the other side while pushing the tube in from this side. Makes the tube slide in easier.
Phew.... now it's working - Connected those wires using Deutsch DT2 connector - this ->
