Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

An extremely low mileage 996 is up on BAT- only 7k miles. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...11-carrera-54/ How many concerns should I have about this car? I suppose many?

POST 2Original post

Not necessarily... Patrick Motor-sports has a good reputation. If it's a car they maintained since new, it could be a good deal. If it's possible to get ahold of the original maintenance records (assuming there are some) it might be ok. Did Patrick "qualify" it when they did the imsb? How often was the oil changed over the years (should be in the records if there are any). It looks like it spent it's life indoors at least - that's a good sign... Can super low milage be a bad thing? You bet it can - but if it was well maintained (regardless of whether it was driven) it can mitigate some of the negatives. When was the water pump last changed (if ever), AOS? Coolant and reservoir? Etc, etc, etc... lots of questions - if the answers are right it could be a peach...

POST 3Original post

Lot of car for the money If in the market for a 996 I would not hesitate one second on this car IMSB bearing done and Patrick wouldnt have done the work if the car needed other things Jump if you like the year and color

POST 4Original post

I would buy that car any day of the week but I just bought an 01 cab that just turned 11k miles. Looks and runs like it did the day it left the showroom floor.

I'm watching this one also, just for fun. I wouldn't be afraid of the low miles, all things considered. My guess for winning bid: $32k.

POST 6Original post

Wow, current owner babied it, too...1k miles in 2 yrs? The IMS is the IMS retrofit so it will need to be done in 3.5 yrs again...it is not the IMSB Solution

POST 7Original post

"Wow, current owner babied it, too...1k miles in 2 yrs?" I just don't get why people buy these cars and then don't drive them...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

he tried to sell it last year on BAT as well. I think the lack of mileage is doing the car no favors, looks like the passenger side valve cover is leaking.

POST 9Original post

Anyone who knows anything about these engines says letting them sit is the worst thing for them (besides things like level 2 over revs)...That being said, it certainly is super clean, and sounds ok - though I'd like to hear it when it's warm...

The only thing I see beyond what others have mentioned is it's been an accident as noted in the Carfax. Not the end of the world, but when you go to sell it, it's harder because an accident on a Carfax report jumps out at ya like Dolly Parton's breasts.

34.5 won it, fair price for both parties involved.

Interesting since both previous BAT's for that car were about $26k.
