Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check hoses' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check hoses' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

While are replacing the hoses you can check the radiators -- it would help to remove the front bumper cover and carefully unbolt the A/C condenser is front of each radiator and gently swing the condenser out of the way to be able to see both the front of each radiator and with each front wheel removed along with the wheel well liner the back of each radiator -- for any leak sign and of course if you find any replace the radiators.

Get the car in the air and check the water pump for any signs of a leak.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I will soon be replacing following:
1. Coolant tank
2. Coolant tube
3. Water pump
4. OE thermostat with low temp version
Obviously I need to drain the coolant first and will use the UView technique posted here. What advice would you have on the sequence of everything else: all in one go? Tank first? Etc
id go wp first...and if you want to, do the thermostat at the same go.
wait for tank to fail imo as it will only be a small annoyance with some drips occurring so you will have lots of warning when it goes. wp on the other hand can leave you stranded at the side of the road if she decides to go.
They all need to get done now really since I have a small leak and I have all the parts. The only question is do I do them all in one go or do the tank first, refill, test and then do the water pump and thermostat? I generally like to do one thing at a time to minimize risk but in this case it probably makes sense to do it all in one go.
CDLVancourver btw I was at the PNWR new members social event yesterday and I think there are quite a few big local events coming up including some stuff closer to you like a drive to Whistler. Do you plan to attend any?
Hey bal
Ya i do some of our local club rides. Ill do the whistler ride on my own even though theres a club ride up there because they leave way too early for me.
Ill watch for the pnw rides if they come through here.
I may go up to kamloops this weekend on the back roads...epic
Obviously replace what you have id'd as the leaking part.
Get the car in the air and check the water pump for any signs of a leak. If you spot leak sign then it is clear the water pump gets replaced. I'd renew the T-stat at the same time but of course I would *not* use a low temp T-stat.
Check the hoses. Coolant hoses go bad at the bottom and where the hose slips over a fitting. The standard auto mechanic hose test involves gripping the hose so one's finger tips are right at the bottom of the hose and close to where the hose slips over a fitting and then squeeze trying to push your fingers through the hose. If the hose gives is too yielding -- this is a matter of experience -- it is time to replace the hose.
Note if you find one hose bad the odds are all are it not as bad close enough that all hoses should be replaced.
If you are one of those that believes in pre-emptive parts replacement then you can replace the coolant tank, the water pump and T-stat (assuming the water pump is "old").
You can elect to check the hoses are just replace them. The hose job is I've been told a bit of work and the hoses are not cheap.

I'm getting ready to do something similar.
*Water pump
*OEM temp thermostat and gasket
*New pulley, roller, and tensioner .
*Replace the brittle plastic Connecting nipple .
*And replacing the fat hose that goes to the water pump , and the small lil 2" hose. (Other already replace few months ago. And the belt looked brand new , no cracks)
Got everything from Porschepartshub. They have always been pretty awesome.
Years ago, shortly after I bought my new 2002 Boxster, I bought a full set of accessory drive idler rollers and a tensioner just to have on hand. I still have the unopened parts laying around somewhere.
For hoses I'd be leery of buying anything but genuine Porsche OE hoses. My concern would be I'd buy OEM hoses and put them away for just in case, then when I needed the hoses, only then find out the hoses were not the same as the OE hoses and thus didn't fit right. But of course, at this time I would then be unable to return the hoses.
If you are willing to risk this then buy the hoses from Pelican Parts, or Suncoast or any discount Porsche parts supplier. I have not looked but if any exist I bet they advertise in Excellence and Panorama.
You had better buy all the hoses. My experience with other cars is if one hose is found to be bad due to age/wear and tear (and not just bad out of the box, so to speak) all hoses should be replaced. Otherwise, one replaces one bad hose then a while later another, then later yet another and so on. Might as well replace them all at the same time.
Thankfully I have not had any hose problems with my Boxster, now 13 years old with over 290K miles. Some time ago I talked to the techs about replacing the hoses -- Oh I remember now, when I had the car in for a new coolant tank. The techs told me the hoses are very reliable and have a very long life and besides a full set is expensive (approx. $1000 for a full set) and the labor to replace them all is nothing to sneeze at, but I didn't get a quote on the labor.
