All 2019 and later builds use an IMS Solution and JE Pistons; earlier builds sold through SSF would have used IMS Retrofit bearings and factory pistons that we had re-coated.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it just me or is it nuts that this car is not sold yet, https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1183102/page1 I would think the value is at least to 25k? Without the RND engine the car might go for 15k? Given that the RND engine is almost $20k it's a pretty good deal? People pay a premium for small things like IMS Solution.... This should be a mega premium. (I don't know the owner at all and never seen the car)

POST 5Original post

Although, I wonder if you could buy it for the motor and part the rest ? Wonder what the real world economics would be

POST 6Original post

I'd say at $16,500 it's a great deal either way...

POST 8Original post

Only listed for 5 days now. Great buy for someone!

POST 10Original post

I don't see a size,, But oh the trouble I could get in to with a spare 911..

POST 11Original post

Gotta hurt to invest $18k on a new engine and then sell it at a loss 12k miles later.

Yes. I often think that I will shell out for an engine rebuild because this is my "forever" car, but then I wonder how long forever is given the curves life can throw at you.

POST 13Original post

What are differences between RND and FSI builds other than FSI increasing size? Built to same tolerances? Same parts? Thanks

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 16450955

I think a lot of the parts and some of the methodology is similar but different people assemble it. But a performance FSI is obviously very different

POST 15Original post

Nothing is the same. The RND engines are a stock replacement, and are not a product of Flat 6. I developed the original engine program for RND when the engines were to be sold by SSF Auto Parts, that was 7 years ago. Outside of a handful of OEM parts that are used, like timing chain rails, no components are shared between the two. They are not to be compared in any way. The RND engines have never been built by Flat 6 Innovations.

POST 16Original post

This is a pretty good overview from LN Engineering website: "All RND M96/M97 Engines are equipped with Nickies™ Performance Cylinder Sleeves, forged JE Pistons, ARP rod bolts and the original IMS Solution . LN Engineering low temperature thermostat, spin-on oil filter adapter and magnetic oil drain plug are standard equipment as well.Select models including the Cayenne S and Turbo V8, Panamera V8, and 9A1/9A2 engines feature Nickies Lite direct plating process. RND Engines does not offer performance engine rebuilds or bore oversizes, however our sister company, Flat 6 Innovations, offers turnkey performance engines and rebuild services for all Porsche models including those fitted with the M96/M97 and 9A1/9A2."

POST 17Original post

I appreciate the education. I had read the LN info posted above but the reference to sister company prompted my question. Thanks

Next month is the 10th anniversary of my engine rebuild, this Porsche ain't going anywhere til I can't get in & out of it.

Unless you've got a crystal ball, "forever" will always be a crap shoot. There are no guarantee's in life - live every day like there may be no tomorrow...

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 16452067

All 2019 and later builds use an IMS Solution and JE Pistons; earlier builds sold through SSF would have used IMS Retrofit bearings and factory pistons that we had re-coated. The builds are otherwise the same and utilize the components offered in the rebuild kits we sell on the LN site.

POST 25Original post

Wow! Great deal - I think the "tip" is killing the value... it's a shame...

I'd buy this right now had I not just put a deposit down on an FSI build!

Half a year or so. Bought on a whim after selling my Vette. I love the car, just not getting the attention it deserves. [phone removed] shoot me a text if youd like more info! Thanks!
