Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I apologize to everyone. It was not my intent to offend anyone with my previous post. I am just trying to learn as much as I can about the 996.

POST 2Original post

I actually enjoyed the thread. Hearing the veterans of 996 ownership talk about their positive experiences made me (a very new 996 owner) confident that I too will someday write about my own. So, thank you for getting the discussion started! Ralph

POST 3Original post

I thought the thread was fun. If you want to know why people buy them, go take one out for a test drive. :-) it's not just because the 911 is the greatest sports car of all time. Then again I might be bias.

POST 4Original post

you have nothing to apologize for. lot of 996 owners have chips on their shoulders. don't worry about it.

X2 with the emphasis on "Lots". Ultimately you gotta do your own research and you have to feel comfortable since it's your money and you're the one that has to live with it.

POST 6Original post

I bought mine because I've always pined for one since I was a kid...and it's my wife's dream car. And, because awesome. 1, 2, potatoe lol

POST 7Original post

Just like any car find a car you like that has been DRIVEN and maintained. Ask questions of owner if any flags go up or you don't get answers you like walk away find another car. Once, you find one that passes first part get PPI done and even call originating dealer for information they will give to you if you ask nicely. Then and ONLY then if passes do you worry about making an offer. Yes, it's a Porsche but it is after all JUST A CAR.

POST 8Original post

Maybe I'm just the only a-hole around here - or maybe I'm the only one willing to say it - but if you roll into any car X forum and start posting up multiple threads about how much car X is a maintenance and financial nightmare, you're going to generate some friction. However, thanks for apologizing - I'm sure you were just voicing concerns generated by seeing all of the other paranoid/lunatic posts from years of other people freaking out about various issues...

POST 9Original post

I said this in another thread, but has the paranoia level around here increased substantially in the past few weeks? I don't recall seeing this much 996 gloom and doom in forever. Plus, it's been awhile since someone posted a thread about a recent IMS failure.

Now, now, Schnelly.... you give yourself FAR too much credit there!

POST 11Original post

Any time there's a crop of "my new 996!" posts, there's generally a corresponding crop of "OMG, what have I gotten myself into" posts as people start to buy into the FUD that you find on every car forum.

Whatever, a-hole.

POST 13Original post

See, I work hard at it, so I don't want someone else trying to grab all the glory.
