Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How does the trim piece around the ignition key area remove? I want to clean and refinish. Thanks Ralph

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Tim and 5, I appreciate! Ralph

POST 6Original post

Definitely get a set of those plastic pry tools for working on the 996 interior. Big help for removing trim pieces like the ignition rosette. http://www.harborfreight.com/nylon-p...-pc-69668.html

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Frisbee, I have a set just like that but in blue. BTW, it did just pull out. I hand rubbed it with a silicone based lubricant used on pool seals and let it sit for an hour or so. I completed the process by wiping it off with a shop rag followed by a light buff before re installing. Looks good!. Thanks for all the help guys! Ralph

POST 8Original post

Do you have a picture of what it looked like before and after? What were you trying to do to it? Just clean it up? -joe

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I was trying to clean it up (it's black), remove some minor scratches and give it a richer look. I didn't take a before but it does look much better now, nothing to lose by rubbing in some silicone! Ralph
