Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to get an alignment soon.... Issue: Driver side wheel is fine. Front passenger wheel is rubbing on the coilover coil seat, the wheel will not spin at all, so I put spacers on both front wheels. Now it spins no problem. Can this camber be corrected for me to get rid of the spacers? I personally don't like running spacers on my car. Wheels specs are 18x9 +51 and 18x11 +51. I'm assuming that they can match my driver camber settings since it's good and it doesn't rub on the coilover seat. TIA!!!

POST 2Original post

Having done a bunch of research before I replaced my front shocks recently, the answer is no. The 996 OE front lower track arms have no adjustable camber. You definitely have some major problem if the wheel is rubbing on the shock coil seat. You say you have coilovers. Are you sure you have enough lift dialed in? Second idea is the lower track control arm is damaged. You need to get it up in the air to check or get it to a good shop to see what is happening. I run 18" wheels and have no problems whatsoever. Wheel spacers are used mainly to provide clearance with aftermarket wheels and the brake calipers, or simply to provide a wider stance, not in this instance to fix a problem like yours. There are aftermarket lower track control arms that provide for adjustable camber, mostly used for racing. I just wanted to add that Porsche does make a 996 front lower track arm that provides two mounting points for correcting camber. But I am not recommending that because you say the drivers side is okay but the passenger side is not. That leads me to think you have some lower track arm damage, or something else is not right with the setup.

POST 3Original post

What size tires and brand are you running by chance? I do think something is wrong since coilovers have even more clearance than the stock spring perches. Any previous accidents that you know of or through carfax?
