Mine was horrible after I installed my coil overs and before I got it aligned.

Replaced any worn parts, new Bilstein b8 struts with H&R springs, new Michelin super sport tires and alignment at a shop that I normally trust (Boston Sports Car in Weston).

First thought always to check tire pressure, then toe.

Very knowledgeable guys on engines and repair/replace but not modification experts.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That immediately solved the problem without even aligning it.
Hi all, I rebuilt the front and rear suspension on my 2001 c4 cab. Replaced any worn parts, new Bilstein b8 struts with H&R springs, new Michelin super sport tires and alignment at a shop that I normally trust (Boston Sports Car in Weston).
Car just doesnt seem right, Im no race car driver but it feels a little numb. Requires more steering input than seems right and seems nervous at highway speed.
im going to bring it back to check alignment, any other thoughts?
thanks!
My car was a nightmare on the road after installing coilovers but before aligning it. I didnt have time to do the coilover install myself so I had local Porsche shop do it. They apparently messed around with the ride heights and got the corner balancing all out of whack in addition to the alignment. Very knowledgeable guys on engines and repair/replace but not modification experts. That was the scariest car I ever drove. Once I got it properly setup the handling was outstanding. It really depends on your car and specific circumstances. I had a Z3 that was very squirrels when I bought it and was going to re-do the whole suspension, but decided to change to all new tires first. That immediately solved the problem without even aligning it. The tires didnt look that bad, either, but sometimes your eyes deceive you.
Alignment is my first thought too. A nervous car at speed can be a sign of toe out at either end. It is not uncommon for a lowered car to have issues with getting the rear end aligned properly, sometimes requiring aftermarket suspension arms that allow for greater adjustment range.
Mine was horrible after I installed my coil overs and before I got it aligned.
Was a scary trip to the alignment shop.
The toe was WAY out and the car darted all over.
That was on slower roads with little to no traffic.
A freeway would have been a nightmare.
This is why I did a string alignment on mine after refreshing the suspension and before driving it (very far -- I did trundle down the road and back, less than two miles, to settle things). It was fiddly but kind of fun in a nerdy way.
