I was replacing the pollen filter on my 2001 996 Carrera the other day (and I removed the wrong side of the cowling first) and discovered this connector near the battery (on the right hand side of the car) but it doesn't appear to have anything to connect too and I certainly didn't disconnect it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was replacing the pollen filter on my 2001 996 Carrera the other day (and I removed the wrong side of the cowling first) and discovered this connector near the battery (on the right hand side of the car) but it doesn't appear to have anything to connect too and I certainly didn't disconnect it. Does anyone know what it is for and its purpose and what it is supposed to connect too? Any help would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Looks like it's for the alarm horn. What colors are the wires?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

not sure, I will have to go take a look and let you know.

POST 4Original post

The alarm horn uses a brown and a black/yellow stripe on a fairly wide connector. The alarm horn is mounted on the brake booster bracket inside the cowl on LHD cars, so I presume it's in a comparable place for RHD cars.
