Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just didn't want to rip off the whole MOST change/amp/radio thing.
Leading evidence: 'Replace /amp/radio thing' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Couldn't I put a second stereo with ipod input in the trunk and tap into the speaker wires of the oem bose stereo that is in the car to get my ipod to work?
I read today in a search that the speaker wires are not MOST/digital in the 2003+ my's
I guess I would need to get a stereo with a remote and snake the ipod cable into the cabin through the firewall.
Any reason this would not work?
tapping in the stereo wires ouahh.. never heard of this be tried before.
after many research I went ahead and install a Dension Gateway, even though the price is really high +- $450, it maintain the OEM look. After couple weeks using it I am very happy with it, but I think I should have waited and spend the extra $ to get a double DIN unit with GPS bluetooth and all that good stuff. I just didn't want to rip off the whole MOST change/amp/radio thing.
many say that with a good double din you don't even really need an amp for good sound. many went with amp addition but not sure it is required.
see my DIY about the dension on renntech

Dell also did one almost at the same time good read well

Go for the double din, that is the best bang for the bucks and all is integrated, only drawback you loose the OEM look.
I just swapped out the whole deck for a Kenwood BT900 Ipod and blue tooth for $300. Looks and sounds great. It's was cheaper than trying to add something onto the stock deck.
Philoo- thanks for the info. I am thinking about the Denison but in a way it seems like i am paying $450 for an adapter.
I guess I will take a look at new units- is the Kenwood black like the Porsche unit and easy to install?
johonole- The Kenwood dropped right in. It's black and has selectable color for the UI so it can match the rest of the dash colors. It's a little thing but it bug me when the lights don't match.
