Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm waiting on delivery or a 2002 996tt that has the PCM1 factory navigation installed, along with the navigation CD and HVAC controls in the lower console. I'm hoping to delete the lower console to gain some legroom. In the process, the plan was to move the HVAC controls to the upper console and add a basic single DIN radio. Has anyone done this, and if so any pointers? Can I use the factory speakers powered by the single DIN amp? Additionally, any comment on what trim pieces are needed to make this work? Thanks Vin

POST 2Original post

To move the climate control unit to the upper slot, you'll need the following: Brackets: (2x) 99657350100 Screws: (2x) 90014307609 -- you should already have 2 that come from the lower mounting point; if not you'll need 4 of these Trim: (1x) 9965526770101C

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

awesome, thanks Can I simply move my climate control to the upper console even though the PCM1 (similar in size to a double din radio) was previously there? It looks like a factory single din/climate control layout has a small plastic bar separating the climate control and radio. Upon removing the factory navigation, I have no such separating bar. Vin

Ahhh! Yes, you're correct - I forgot about that piece. That's part # 99655223111 It's cheaper new than in that eBay listing above.

Perfect. That makes sense to me having given things a closer look. Thanks for the quick and helpful response Vin

OP - What headunit are you planning on using, and does your TT have the Bose sound system? I am interested in doing a similar setup on my 996 now that the Nav system is toast.
