Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If Wheels America doesn't want to do them or touch them, lucky you, you can always get a new barrel since they're 3 piece wheels and just replace the inner barrel.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I didn't want to weld or have it fixed as the structural integrity gets weaker whenever it is heated.
Looks like it was welded before and recracked. Did you have these welded or did you buy them like this?
Dunno where you live in the midwest but 20's is asking for that type of stuff to happen all the time, at least where I live around.
Have you contacted Wheels America?
I personally would NOT feel safe with a crack like that. But as suggested above, phone around if a pro shop can fix it.
Give these guys a ring, send them a photo of the crack and see what they think. Best of luck.

If that was my car, I would have it up on jack stands and be examining the other three.
I am a terrible welder, which makes me fully qualified to point out the sh** weld on that wheel.
If Wheels America doesn't want to do them or touch them, lucky you, you can always get a new barrel since they're 3 piece wheels and just replace the inner barrel. You can go with genuine barrel directly from HRE or get one of the many generic ones out there that have the same measurements.
I did this for one of my BBS wheels some time ago. I didn't want to weld or have it fixed as the structural integrity gets weaker whenever it is heated.
HRE SAYS the half barrels might be China knockoffs - quote is 300 each barrel plus labor and the do not make chrome
For obvious reasons UGGH

HRE does not sell 1/2 barrels - all must be sent to California - just got off phone with rep
The other rear is wavy on the lip as well - it will look stupid as hell with two fronts chrome
Lip and rears in Satin finish

Dunno, there's always been rumors that HRE outsources their own barrels but no one knows exactly where.
You can always go ebay route and see if you can find matching barrel:

Wheelflip.com is also another source for used/new barrels.
Rotiform have also been known to sell just the barrels.
Going to be tough to give these up - makes the car look thick - think I will follow lead for 1/2 barrels on E-bay - new bolts and call it a day
I will keep looking for 19 inch that catch my eye
Maybe next year project - BBS are a great choice and easy to repair
Think of it this way - you dodged a bullet. The wheel is cracked and you discovered it before you saw your wheel passing you on the interstate. Bite the bullet and buy new wheels. IMO 20" leave no sidewall for flex and absorption of shock. 18" would be better. Talking "function and safety" over bling...it's your car so do what you want. But whatever the case, buy new wheels. I always say - nothing between your *** and the pavement except your wheels/tires.
Doubt if those C2 Cab wheels will work on his 996tt.
In the midwest, do yourself a favor and sell those wheels and get yourself a similar set of 18". My S430 came with a beautiful set of 20" wheels. They were trashed in about 6 months. You can probably get a set of great looking 18" wheels close to what you can sell your 20" set for, even with one damaged wheel.
There aren't many wheel/tire combos on RL that make MY tires look thick. I hope you can get those fixed up, OP - they do look sweet.
My "monster truck" tires for comparison...
Bummer.
I have to agree with what several others have said.
Sell the 20's and downsize.
They don't make the care handle better or ride smoother and only cost you more money when tires come up for replacement.
HRE 3 piece wheels are way over rated IMO. And if you want to send them back to have them fixed, you better have a heavy wallet. I know. I got rid of them on my Audi and never looked back.
you are right - the tire selection is limited to hankook only now - I have to find
19 or 18 set / love the 3 piece BBS

they out source the barrel replacements -think I will do that - since I refreshed the front suspension along with purchase of car/ tools / tag an title / alignment /plus purchase car/ transport - it's been a big 6 months- books/there is my dough for the year - fix and enjoy it

I think the term "996tt" should be applied very loosely here. From what I gather, I believe this is a 996tt look alike. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
you are correct counselor - TL turbo look- another thing I would like to discuss for future is - can a big bore be done to a 3.4 ?
This car is so California - the previous owner did stick quite a bit of money on that look - good for me
Sent from my iPad using Rennlist
Yeah $15k is quite a bit to sink to look like a TT as I would've rather spent that kind of money on a turbo kit instead. But as you said, you are in Cali and I know how you boys are all about glamour and vanity out there. LOL. j/k.
As for big bore, I personally wouldn't bother as you're not going to get your money's worth on a 3.4. For half the price of a big bore job, I'd rather go the turbo/sc route if your current motor is already healthy.
BTW, if they did the WB conversion correctly, you should be looking for TT offset wheels. There are many to choose from. You may want to check out the Wheel Dynamics sponsor here. They can hook you up to the proper wheels that would look the most aggressive on your car.
Thanks Alpine, yes we have many wide body options available on our site, we also just took in a set of HRE wheels yesterday that are up for grabs now that we can of course customize if you want your own look!
But here are some options:
