Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I'm probably the minority here, but I don't like loud Harleys/choppers either, my street bike also had a factory exhaust.
Leading evidence: 'minority here' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'minority here' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run open exhaust wasn't worth it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I thought to myself that the 10-15hp I may have gotten by running an open exhaust wasn't worth it.

Suggestion
Odd, I have had fabspeeds on both my 996's and never once set off a car alarm going through a parking garage.

"OMG that's insane" as we ripped through a full mall parking lot and set off at least a dozen car alarms all at once.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I finally fell in love with my Fabspeed exhaust today. If you haven't heard the 911 IRL with this exhaust you would be shocked at how much sound pressure it is capable of generating, especially at a range of about 20' where the bass really get's focused. (setting off car alarms en masse anyone?)
Anyway I'm taking a leisurely cruise today and am about to get home when I see in my rearview mirror a black mercedes convertible with two guys laid back like they are cooler than everyone else heading my way. I'm taking a right at a yield and carefully aim my tailpipes perpendicular to the intersection they are about to blisfully speed through, and at the perfect distance, I just whale on the throttle and rev my Fabs up to about 7k rpm shooting a massively loud flat six sound pressure wave at the speeding convertible. (Honestly, it's a hideously frightening sound
) Dude slams on his brakes and they both sit up abruptly and glare at me like their hearts are about to explode. I normally don't get off on scaring other drivers but something about it was halarious. Gotta love the Fab's. I've been giggling about it every since.
Incidentally I have also noticed that a good rev on the Fabs will also get rid of a tailgater. People just don't like being subjected to a 120db fart and back off.
Hahahaha.
IMy neighbor came over last weekend and asked me to not come home after midnight because it wakes him up when I back into the driveway. I hate the *****, so I told him "OK". I love the Fabspeeds.
Need some discretion here...
Neighbors in their beds--not cool to screw with.
"Beautiful people" relaxing in fashionable cafes? Rev 'til their Botox squirts out!
First thing I did to my 996 w/the Fabspeeds was pull them out...
I had a stripped out 944 turbo when I was 17 and one day when I was taking my mother to the airport in it, she asked me why the car was so loud... I thought to myself that the 10-15hp I may have gotten by running an open exhaust wasn't worth it. Since then even my track cars have had factory or comparable exhausts. I'm probably the minority here, but I don't like loud Harleys/choppers either, my street bike also had a factory exhaust.
Maybe I'm getting old, to each his own, blah blah. I do admit some of them can sound nice, but even through a helmet and ear plugs, it gets old.
So that's why you sold me the Fabs? Your Mom made you do it? (No offense meant here).
Now I can understand if you wanted to hear the fine Deutsche interworkings of motor...........
Boy, do I wish you were my neighbor. Second shift you get home after midnight, and third shift you get home after 8:00 am. You think he gives a crap if I'm in my bed? I wish the only thing he did was pull out his POS Charger (that he wants to race me on the street. Wanna go to the track A-hole? Oh, no, not me.) Lawnmowers, string trimmers, power washers, hedge trimmers, etc. I deal with it.
The guy is a *****, but I have never asked him to not drive his car or not use any of his toys.
I knew that was coming...
I didn't say I haven't been there when I enjoyed a louder car, it's just that I don't anymore. Part of this has to do with not wanting attention, partly preference. To each his own.
my neighbor invites college kids to live at the house and they often times are coming home late and seem to open and close the doors on a car about 12 times just to get out? - he stopped that for now.....but invited a guy from down the street to park 2 Limos in his driveway.... and now they come around at wierd hours
drives my dogs nuts and they bark, which they are supposed to, but wakes up my wife, which means I get to go outside at 1-2am and put the dogs away so they will stop barking - GEEZ, what good are they then? the idea is to have them bark at wierdos coming around at 2am !!
rant off -
I love them, but good lord I have a state trooper living nearby and every time I hit the gas pedal I swear every cop for 100 miles can hear me. That and I do miss the upper octave sound that I lost, the Fab's are all lower frequency. I may go back to modified stock in a few months after I get sick of farting on the world. For now I'm still amused. A few quotes:
"Sounds awesome"
"Why does your 911 sound like a boat?"
"It sounds like a VW on steroids"
"OMG that's insane" as we ripped through a full mall parking lot and set off at least a dozen car alarms all at once. Deviant laughter insues.
Wow my Fabspeeds have *never* set off any alarm.
Actually they come on awesome at the same time as the Helmholz.
If you guys want loud, booming, neighbor-angering, cop-attention grabber try bypass pipes for a couple weeks!
You'll realize this is actually the ideal performance compromise.....
Agreed....Stock is nice but too quiet, bypass pipes are out of control and fabspeeds are in between.
I like mine.
You can just rev it up in the garage to annoy wife....

Where does PSE stand in terms of sound compared to these Fabspeeds?
People tell me my car is loud but it doesn't seem to be too bad from the driver's seat.
Odd, I have had fabspeeds on both my 996's and never once set off a car alarm going through a parking garage. Granted, I've never redlined my car in a parking garage. Are there too versions of the fabspeeds? Perhaps a loud and soft version?
For giggles, I did fire up my car before I put the fabspeeds on (Original mufflers removed), now that was loud. I rev'd it a bit and everyone in the shop turned their heads.
There are times that I wish my fabspeeds where a bit louder.
Well, I'm the 'sucker' that bought fty's bypass pipes, and I like them. I don't like lugging the engine through the neighborhood in 5th gear, but if that’s the price I have to pay, so be it.
The kids love it when I blip the throttle when going through overpasses. They laughed all the way to school on their last day on Friday.
(However, I probably wouldn’t keep them on if this wasn’t going to be converted to a race car this fall.)
