Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Disconnect battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'mass air flow sensor' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check intake/vacuum leaks' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Im waiting for a smoke machine to come in to check for vacuum leaks.

Maf did drop down to the 17ish kg/h I will check the other suggestions!.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Recently my 99' 3.4 cable throttle is running rough for a few minutes after cold start. I drove off this morning and it actually stalled when coming up to stop light.
Durametric had no faults. Car is running great and very strong after warmed up.
I thought it was the MAF. Bought this at AUTO ZONE OEM Bosch part number. Wasnt going to pay the $500.00 plus but maybe I should have?
I removed and cleaned the idle control valve and still no change.
I did a bunch of maintenance last spring.
new injectors from LN-E
vario-cam pads and new bank 2 actuator/solenoid. cam deviation is perfect and in spec, no bouncing.
new AOS and hoses
new plugs with o-rings on tubes
coils were newer 997 update
intake manifold gaskets
throttle body seal
oil fill tube with new cap
dipstick tube seal
valve cover breather and breather hoses
top gear mufflers
Also, 997 sport seats, BEST UPGRADE EVER!
anything else I should check?
I have the EXACT same set of issues (and the exact same set of maintenance items done myself in the past few months). Im waiting for a smoke machine to come in to check for vacuum leaks. I feel it could be fuel delivery related as well. During the rough idle if I hit the gas pedal theres no change in running; it just has to stabilize on its own.
Get the fuel trim values from a Durametric and post them, it will tell you if you have a possible vacuum leak or not..
Also how old/new are the 02 Sensors ? Slow reacting/biased 02 Sensors will cause idle issues..
I would head straight to the MAF sensor. Did you keep the old one? Maybe install it and see what happens. These cars are highly sensitive to the MAF sensor. When I replaced mine I went with a Porsche OEM MAF sensor from AutoAtlanta. Pricey but I figured the quality control would be better.
See pictures. Not sure if this is what I need to post. I did reinstall the old Maf sensor and it threw a code immediately so the new maf should be good.
Looks like you are running RICH..
Your fuel trims are pulling fuel, your MAF is high ( rpm?)
Just from this limited snapshot, I would test the fuel pressure to make sure it is not high, also the fuel pressure regulator to make sure it is not leaking or the vacuum line is disconnected..
Then I would verify the coolant temp sensor was not reading colder than real life ( make fuel too rich)
But first off ( or maybe last) I would substitute a " known good" MAF sensor...MAF sensors can't be "tested" without a $100k flow bench...
correction Found a leak during another smoke test. New Bosch maf did not change it. looks like a secondary air injection line or fitting break. this will be fun. probably going to lower engine a bit.
Vacuum line pulled out of rubber hose. Not sure how. Reconnected and started up like crap again. Disconnected battery for 10 min. Fired up and all is good!
