I've seen a Youtube video that shows the horns being replaced on a 986 Boxster, but it seems to gloss over many of the details.

Getting to the horns wasn't hard, where I ran into trouble was that I had to drill the holes in the mounting brackets to make the hole bigger.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of my horns stopped working. I don't know if it's the high one or the low one but I'll replace them both while I'm at it. I've learned that to replace the horns the bumper cover has to be removed and the horns are on the passenger side. I've seen a Youtube video that shows the horns being replaced on a 986 Boxster, but it seems to gloss over many of the details. Does anybody have detailed instructions on front bumper cover removal? How har a job is this and how long should it take? Thanks.

Heres a couple of links that should help https://www.renntech.org/tutorials/a...-front-bumper/ https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ion-996-a.html

POST 3Original post

I just did this a few weeks ago and used this PCA video as reference. Only takes a few minutes. The only difficult part is removing the fasteners from the fender liner. 2 out of 4 broke but luckily my local dealership had them in stock And dont forget to take a few minutes and clean out your radiators while you have the bumper cover off You Tube

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the help and information.

POST 5Original post

I just did this recently on my 03 C2, I bought the horns from Porsche. Getting to the horns wasn't hard, where I ran into trouble was that I had to drill the holes in the mounting brackets to make the hole bigger. Seems the replacement horns have a larger diameter mounting stud.
