Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
No problem.....1 more thing to remember about our cooling systems, the coolant will expand about 10% when it warms up to operating temp, that will fill the expanded hoses and then some.
Leading evidence: 'Replace water pump last week' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill expanded hoses' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It's always a very good idea to use the vacuum fill tools to keep from leaving air pockets..

It should actually never vent unless it gets too hot..If the cap will only hold a few psi it will vent and loose coolant..( and subsequently running a lower level will prevent coolant lose, but doesn't give you a nice safety margin))

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Changed my water pump last week. Picked up a loaner pressure tester from Advance Auto for peace of mind. Went from 18 psi to 17 psi in one hour so I'm good. When pressurized, coolant goes from max mark to min mark. When take off pressure, level goes back up. Do I have an air bubble or is there that much expansion in the rubber hoses? Didn't have vacuum filler so did the rev up engine method. Drove 50 miles a day for four days. Temp needle always stays between the 8 and the 0 in the 180 on the gauge. Outside temp averaging in the mid 80s.
Our cars have 20 something rubber hoses in the cooling system, they will expand that much under 18-19 psi..
It's always a very good idea to use the vacuum fill tools to keep from leaving air pockets..
The "wire bail" on the black burp valve can be lifted to assist in getting the air from the top of the radiators. The radiators have the inlet and outlets at the bottom so air can be trapped in the top of the radiators, but there is a small vent line in the top of radiator that connects to the burp valve that lifts automatically under pressure, but can be manually assisted by lifting the bail to relive air without having to wait for the pressure to build and lift automatically..
If you have driven to full operating temps and full cool down with coolant level still at the Max, you are OK...
No problem.....1 more thing to remember about our cooling systems, the coolant will expand about 10% when it warms up to operating temp, that will fill the expanded hoses and then some. It will be enough expansion to actually raise the coolant level and compress the air in the space in the reservior above the Max line to about half...
I found on my car the system "likes" to be about 1/2 way between the LOW and MAX level.. (Which makes sense if you think about it... ) If I fill to max it will vent coolant until it's lower.
Makes ya wonder why there is no "best level line" at the half way mark.
Hmm, Sounds like you have a faulty cap.
You will want to pressure test your cap. A proper functioning cap will hold pressure to 19psi before venting, then will drop down to about 14psi before re-sealing..
