Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Its winter in New England as we all know. Washing the car in my driveway is no longer an option. There is a place close buy with those pressure washer cleaners. I think they suck but they are a winter option.
i have a brand new state of the art touchless car was I have used several times. It even does your undercarriage and a device will pop out and wash your wheel if you choose the $20 option.
I never do I just use the $9 economy choice. It just soaps up your car and water jets blast your car.. Everything comes out nice. A few spots need a touch up here and there but its good enough to get the accumulation from the salty roads. Its pretty tough to do this with the power washer bay option, unless you feel like lying down to try to spray it. Not gonna happen.
Some say its a bad idea. I dont have a problem with it but then again I am open minded.
My question is does anyone else do this?
Has anyone had a problem because of it?
I always steer away from any sort of automatic operation but touchless is the lesser of all the evils when it comes to drive through stuff. Make sure you avoid any sort of terry towel drying. Salt is more of an issue on bare metals than it is on painted surfaces.
The touchless car wash near me is truly touchless, and includes an under-spray as you pull into the bay, and a strong dryer as you pull out of the bay.
I live in Texas, and dont have the same issues as you all do. But even down here I dont run mine through a car wash (never). I do all hand washing, but generally do a waterless wash which you could do there too maybe?
My car is a weekender, so I only drive in good weather, and dont have to worry about ice and salt. Maybe only drive her when roads are dry, or wait for spring? I know, tall order.
Yes, I live in Texas now, but I've spent half my life in the ice/snow lands.
If that was my current situation I'd be running it through a bottom spray/touchless every 3 days or so, depending on how grimy/salty the roads are. Yes, the touchless doesn't do a great job, but it's better than leaving the salt on the car.
One winter in Omaha, NE, I didn't wash my speed yellow Capri for 3 months! No thouchless back then, I rented a spot at the auto hobby shop and washed it by hand. Had to wait over an hour just for it to thaw out first!
It's not a 250 GTO, so I mean, let's be real, especially if you drive your car daily or mostly daily, like you should, in that yeah, it's gonna get dirty... I'm in Texas and probably do an automated touchless wash every 2 weeks, and then take mine to my carwash next door and have them do a hand wash once a month. It's not a big deal, even on a black car, since I get a real detail every year or so by my detail guy. Being self-employed I don't really have time nor enjoy washing my car, so this works for me. I daily mine no matter the weather so if it's dirty it's dirty until it gets clean, no biggie!
Lots of salt on the roads here in upstate NYI use touchless wash every week in the winter sometimes more. Mine has the underbody wash as you drive in then the soap and water spray all over the car and it gets rinsed. I have the ceramic coating so I don't use any wax stuff but I would never take it through the rail car wash. On the rail wash, you can get unlimited wash for like $35/month. I used to put my Subaru through that almost 5-6 times a week! Wish the touchless was the same...
I've owned many convertibles in my lifetime and the convertible companies tell you to avoid harsh detergents and high pressure washing of these tops. Doing so can damage the stitching and promote premature aging of the waterproof fabric. I'm not 100% sure who is the OEM provider for Porsche cabriolet and Boxster tops, but my best guess is HAARST since they manufacturer in Germany and have develop tops for many of the European car brands.
