Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, fellow 996 owners! I am attaching a link to my C4S that is up for auction on BAT. It is a difficult decision for me. I love the car! I have a couple of factors that lead to this sale; I currently own a 1995 C2 with a Raby 3.9 engine; it was his wife's car before I purchased it. I also have a recently purchased 1990 C2 Targa for which Jake is considering a 4.1 build. We have been talking about it for a while, but I am unsure if it will get built with recent events. Since picking up the other two cars I haven't had the time for all of them, my loss could be your gain! The 996 with the Raby 4.0 has just passed the break-in period of about 8000 miles on the build. It is everything I hoped it would be, flat torque through the powerband, a different car at lower revs, and jumps up to 135 mph so fast it is a bit scary. I chose a build focusing on longevity and the attributes mentioned above. Don't hesitate to DM me if you have any questions. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...carrera-4s-110

POST 2Original post

Such a great looking and I imagine performing C4S! You've gone to the right place to get the $ this beauty deserves. Good luck!

POST 3Original post

Not all of 911r's cars are nice, trust me, but this one looks the business. Must be tough to part with.

POST 5Original post

My gawd that gearbox looks pristine ! Nice car man, GLWS.

POST 7Original post

Wow, awesome car. I hope it sells for a ton! Its worth it!

POST 9Original post

That is a great looking car and good luck with the sale. Great to see a high quality build with a lot of tasteful mods and upgrades with a high quality seller. Will give the market a good test! I have so many questions.. is that a 997 shift ****? that is so simple but looks great compared to the standard stock ****.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you. I'm not sure what kind of shift **** it is I bought it from a guy on here that was selling brass inserts that fit inside the shifter head gives it a really substantial feeling. It has a numeric ssk which shifts like a rifle bolt pretty sweet going through the gears!

POST 11Original post

Those specs at that price its a steal. If I had the $$$ Id buy it instantly. Good luck and hope it finds a good home.

POST 12Original post

That price is the current bid. Will go much higher before it’s over. I’m guessing the FSI replacement engine adds $20k to the price. Someone is going to be very happy. I hope they know what they’ve got!

Sometimes, but in this example it should because the rest of the car is so nice.

sorry, brain fart and lack of experience with bidding sites. I was fortunate to buy mine directly from the owner.

POST 15Original post

Best of luck on BaT. Your car would be the perfect garage mate for my 2009 4s FSI 4.0, but then I'd have to part with my stock 2003 4s.......My willpower is weak however........

POST 16Original post

ooooh very interested to see what this goes for...! Good luck

Best of luck with the sale. Car looks immaculate. Is this a typo??

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope 54,000 on the chassis 8000 on the engine build

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 18419398

By the way you wrote it you seem to say the break in period is 8000 miles.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My bad break in period 7500

POST 21Original post

Its the mileage at which you can switch to full synthetic oil.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 18418793

FSI engine has basically zero residual.

POST 23Original post

Thanks you for the clarification. I took that to mean the mileage before you can start driving it to it's fullest capabilities

Well know in five days 🤠

POST 26Original post

I think it will big and well deserved especially with the FSI

POST 27Original post

Porsche buyers are clearly not rational, they'll pay a stupid premium for certain colors, but apparently nothing for a premium engine. Thankfully that irrationalness allowed me to scoop up a beast of a car for a bargain price. One test drive of a 996/997 with an FSI 4.0 will make a believer out of any naysayer.

POST 28Original post

Its become a world of form (pretty colors) over substance (mechanical). Then it's documented with selfies and yutube videos.

POST 30Original post

So we can now put to rest the "FSI engines don't command any premium" argument?????

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18427458

I would agree with that!

I can't say I got all my money out of the car, but that was never the intent. Most of the fun was dialing it in the way I wanted it. Now I get to do it with a 1990 C2 Targa. Talk to all you guys later I'll be moving on, that was the only 996 I owned. Best
