For me, maybe it was my cheap amp idk Had to run my own large - negative wire right to the battery to stop a very slight engine whine at low to no volume from the amp.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm trying to wrap up an amplifier installation in my 996 C4S and I'm looking for good "accessory" power to tap into for the amplifiers. Some of the resources I've found suggest going straight to the battery, but that leaves constant power (and drain) on. I only want the amps running when I have the ignition on. Ideally, only when I have the ignition (accessory or running position) as well as the head unit. My electrical wiring talents leave much to be desired, and I haven't found any decent wiring threads to walk me through at my level. Any help/links would be greatly appreciated.

POST 2Original post

We need to know what factory radio package u had, did it have a factory amp? Also what year is your car? I can check my drawings

POST 3Original post

Well, if you had an oem amp then there is a hot + & - feed in amp plug, along with a amp wake up wire from head unit, iirr it was a blue wire. For me, maybe it was my cheap amp idk Had to run my own large - negative wire right to the battery to stop a very slight engine whine at low to no volume from the amp. That wire was only 17" long but no engine/alt whine at all now.

I had a factory amp. PO replaced the speakers previously, and the speaker grilles don't say "BOSE" but I think that's what it was optioned with. (That or the "HiFi" system.) The car had the factory amp and the fiber optic audio signal, with speakers in the door. My option sticker is too badly faded to read as to whether it was a Bose or HiFi/Kardon (?) system. Something marginally better than the base audio, in case that helps.
