Simply use your 1/2" drive impact wrench to remove the lug nut or wheel lock by setting your wrench to loosen (counter-clockwise) mode and the reverse threads will grip the nut and spin it right off.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

First want to say I really love this forum and though new . I see there's alot of knowledgeable , intelligent owners here..I prefer just to remain reading than post..But I need of a little help if possible.I have a 99 C2 that needs tires but I cant removed them because the car has those OEM wheel locks. I know pelican has them (the key). But I wanted to ask you guys first..I'm attaching a photo of the bolt pattern.. I want to buy them. I just cant see myself pay 80 bucks for something I'll never use again.. Anyone that can assist would be genuinely appreciated.. And no I have no IMS RMS issues.. Sorry had to say it.. I 'll paypal the cost for the lock key. Thanks guys!!!
Take the car to the dealer and explain that you don't have the security socket. They should have one to remove the lug bolts. Then either buy a set of security bolts and the security socket, or buy 4 regular lug bolts
I would spend the $80. If you blow a tire somewhere, you'll need it. Alternatively, I have never heard of a tire shop that can't get these off (although they may have to be cut). I have a 99 C2 as well, and my bolts look just about as good as yours
. It's low on my list to replace, but they take away from the look of the wheels.
As I pull my wheels annually to clean the calipers, inside wheel surfaces, etc., I finally got tired of dinking around with the wheel locks, and bought 4 new wheel lugs. The wheel locks+key have been relegated to the shelf. Good riddance, I say.

And that's exactly what I did the second day after I got the car as I could not find the security socket, even though the previous owner swears up and down it should be in the car.
The ironic part is that after I got home from purchasing 4 regular lug bolts, I end up finding the secuirty socket on the factory lug bolt wrench in the tool kit, never thought to look there!

@Nineellebin
, I own your car now. Just lost the security key for the 7 spline security bolts I presume you ended up putting back on the car.
If anyone knows nineelle or if anyone can chime in on the 7 spline bolts he bought, would be greatly appreciated. Going to try Pelican as you mentioned in the OP first. Dealership did not have a matching key because they are all 6 points, like the one you originally posted in this thread.

^ found the three piece set the 911 user posted above. I guess I can give these a shot? Nineelle, the ones you bought have rounded tops though.
A photo of what you have might help. Do yours look similar to what he had on it before, or are they taller with straight splines cut in around the outside of the bolt? If they're the straight cut they might just be generic spline drive bolts.
This is what I was trying to describe, if they look like this the "key" is a fairly generic socket, you just need to know the diameter and spline count to get a replacement.

I had wheel locks, and then a flat tire. I didn't have the key. A kindly stranger with no Porsche experience got the wheel off with a 12 point socket of just the right size. It's been a while...he may have used a hammer to get the socket on the wheel lock.
FWIW, when I also bought a car sans key, went to Pep Boys and found the “security nut removal sockets”. They were literally next to the security lock nuts for sale. Anyway, they work okay.
