I’m also from Ohio- highly would recommend Pete’s Custom Coachbuilding in Geauga County (not far from Cleveland/Mentor area.) Was referred to him by my shop I frequent (Steinel’s Autowerks) when I needed all of my aero parts painted, which I installed on my Mk1 996.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was feeling debonair after getting a nice haircut and as I was coming home an older lady made the mistake of turning left on my right-of-way colliding with the front of my baby. It looks mostly cosmetic but nonetheless gut wrenching to see the damage. I was exasperated but kind enough to the lady and her young grandson who were both calm and collected. could had been worse. no airbag deployment nor anyone hurt. thank goodness we both have insurance but sucks I have to pay $300 deductible that could have gone towards something else in life. anyone from Ohio recommend a bodyshop? I am located north central between Sandusky and Mansfield. should i be ok just going to a repair shop that do not necessarily work with porsche vehicles? can't tell from the pic but also some damages on the front end of hood and right headlight. right side marker and front lip also cracked. i am concerned about the radiator but no obvious leak noted. i pray there will be no issue obtaining replacement parts.

POST 2Original post

Sucks but if she is determined to be over 50% at fault her insurance pays your deductable. U need to talk with your agent about this and going after her for diminisshed value as your car is no longer worth as much because it shoes an accident. Good luck.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

she was very kind and verbalized her 100% fault to the collision. none of the blaming BS. but funny it seemed like she was completely not phased by the event. she kept saying "I have great insurance". i was like sure ok but i have to look at this ugly front end for a while haha. so great hopefully her Geico insurance do cover my deductible. dang i didn't even think about the change in my car's value... honestly i will keep this car forever so i shouldn't be concerned...oiiii

From my understanding many of the local air cooled guys doing major restores use Pete for all their paint and body work. Any future work I’ll ever need- I’ll be back to Pete.

Gonna take the car to the shop on Monday. A local ex-pat Brit mechanic in Shiloh, OH (of all places --- Amish town) who works on plenty of porsches and other high cars recommended a shop in Mansfield who only goes by word-of-mouth. We shall see. If not will definitely go to Pete's Customs as mentioned above. Thanks Y'all. Keep you guys updated.

Glad to hear you have a few options to get the car taken care of the right way. Sourcing any of these 996.1 or 996.2 aero kits have reached high dollars $$ when sourcing brand new. I searched forever and found excellent condition all OEM used aero parts for my .1 (probably less than half vs sourcing it brand new) Keep an eye open sometimes there are great deals on the rear C4S/Turbo aero wing (if thats your cup of tea). Switch the wiring harness for the fixed wing and youre all done.
