Im getting ready to replace the struts on my 2004 cab and am curious about whether its worth the extra cost for the Porsche top mounts vs those from Lemforder or the like.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im getting ready to replace the struts on my 2004 cab and am curious about whether its worth the extra cost for the Porsche top mounts vs those from Lemforder or the like. Porsche appear to be all rubber while Lemforder is metal with a rubber inner bushing. The Porsche version is $75-120 a corner more expensive which adds up. if it matters, Im planning to install Koni Special Actives on stock (non-sport) suspension. Im working with Gert at Carnewal. What do you all think? Pros/cons of each? POST 2Original post

Looking at pictures of both versions I'd say that the Porsche ones are coated black whereas the Lemfrder ones are not. Their design is basically identical. I'm curious what you think of the Koni dampers when you've driven them for a while.

POST 3Original post

Lemforder are OEM. If you want to pay the price differential for the box that says Porsche on it, thats your choice...

POST 4Original post

Don’t pay for the box. Lemforder, Meyle, Bilstein, TRW all make really dependable parts.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I have parts in order from all of the suppliers mentioned above (control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, and strut mounts). Wish me luck with my suspension refresh
