I'm running a setup with upgraded headers, cats, mufflers, intake, plenum, plugs, etc.
Leading evidence: 'Run setup' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run setup' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Longevity of engine has not been tested by me, but ghetto rigged set-up worked on my 2002 C2 for a couple of pulls.

Trade car in and use the funds to buy a 996 Turbo.

For me, n20 and Porsche do not mix and should really only be used on the dragstrips.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just thought i'd throw this out there.
Is it possible to push around 400 horsepower from a 3.4 C2? Without a supercharger or turbo.
I don't think that it's impossible, there's tunes out there as well as a whole lot of bolt ons.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks a bunch
Yes. Add a bottle with 100 hp shot of N20. Longevity of engine has not been tested by me, but ghetto rigged set-up worked on my 2002 C2 for a couple of pulls. +100 hp when you need it, stock car when you don't. Car screamed and pulled on par if not harder than my AMG. Attempt at your own risk!
Your problem will be that very few tuners will touch the M96 car to tune the NOS due to fear of it blowing up and you coming after them.
I like this a lot. And you've done this on a stock motor? no intake/exhaust/cat x-pipe etc?
Is the N20 only programmed for a +100 tune? or can you shoot less.
I'm running a setup with upgraded headers, cats, mufflers, intake, plenum, plugs, etc. not sure how else I can add more power (aside from N20)
One reason to go with the bottle: you can get a setup for cheep - like $500 if you're willing to go with a used rig, though obviously new gear and/or progressive controllers get a lot more costly...
with enough money, anything is possible. Nitrous will be the cheapest, turbo/SC will be second cheapest. you'll have to spend A LOT of money to get 400 horse naturally aspirated. a lot. I'm about 13k in now and not even close to 400, and that's with upping the displacement to boot.
Not entirely, we just pay for the best climate and weather in the country, at least in So Cal, especially San Diego.
CA also has more natural resources than any other state
I lived there as a Marine... I couldn't leave fast enough.
But, I prefer to be without crowds of people, or traffic. Here, we have more tractors on the road than cars.
I think this is the year they rename El Nio. El Gordo or El Gigante will work, depending on how much rain there really is. Or El Chiste if it's a bust like the last El Nio forecasts that didn't pan out.
There's plenty of fun to be had in CA - but in Oceanside/Pendleton, not so much.
I think the correct answer to OP's question - 400HP without a turbo or supercharger, which I also assume precludes a stroked/bored M96, an LS, or a General Electric GEnx - would be nitrous, as I do not believe you can get to 400HP with intake, exhaust, and a tune. At least, not a tune I want to run in my 996.
Of course, with nitrous comes The Dreaded "danger to manifold." This can result in bolts unexpectedly popping out of the floor pan.
But not just from straight "bolt ons" as initially inquired by OP. I would ask how but I get a feeling the answer will be crickets or "attend one of my classes" answer.
No way from bolt ons would this level of performance be reached. The cylinder heads alone lack the volume to keep this from occurring.
Believe nothing you read in ads about bolt ons, most decrease performance.
The "magic" of bolt-ons is the more you add, the less collective effect they have...the five or six 10-HP mods never quite add up to 50 or 60 HP. Or half that, even. Pretty sure that Charlie the unicorn does all of the "after" dyno pulls for bolt-on manufacturers.
Easy peasy. Trade car in and use the funds to buy a 996 Turbo. 420hp. And probably for less than you'd pay to get anywhere near 400hp from the N/A 996 engine.
As JR has stated before, the M96 internals are pretty much maxed out at stock power. What are your goals? A couple of 1/4 miles passes? Reliability? What?
Don't waste your time or money. If your serious about keeping it NA and or need to stay that way for racing class, there's no substitute for CI's, or liters in this case. Unless you just love to spend money, you would be better off to sell yours and buy a nice TT.
You could get much more power, much easier out of your 6.0 you have listed in your sig line. I know the 6.0's had some issues but if you do the 6.0 fixes, these engines are amazing. The 05 - 07 are the best 6.0's to mod. For $3000 to $5000 your heavy F250 could be well into the 12's, maybe 11's. You could even tow with it as well.
BTW, I think that's the shortest answer "The Mac" has ever posted.
Afro, yes you can swap the N20 jet for a smaller shot. 50 hp should should give you plenty of umph with your bolt-ons.
Schnell, no photos as the set up was on the car for a day.
This is probably identical kit to what I had on car. It was originally on my Acura and worked fine. So if you are going to do this Afro, I would take the car to the local tuning shop and have them properly install the system and dyno test it. 50 or 75 hp shot would be more than sufficient for your needs.

For me, n20 and Porsche do not mix and should really only be used on the dragstrips. There are also several factors in using it correctly and considering you are in NJ, you would need a bottle warmer in the colder months as to maintain proper bottle pressure. Usually these factors results in less than instantaneous on demand power.
And before you shoot any juice to these engines, replace your knock sensors, and hope like hell you got a good set of pistons from the factory!
I've sprayed M96s before, that were built for it, and the wet kit was the best choice.
I'm in NJ too. I had nitrous in my previous car (not Porsche) and it was a pain in the *** to keep going to get a refill at $60 a pop, not too many places carry it so you'll end up driving somewhere out of the way to get it. It doesn't last that long so it got very expensive. Its really meant for drag racing at the track where that little bit wins the race. Not worth it on this type of car. Your car is also automatic so you're better off just getting a 6 speed car and enjoy it as-is and pray you don't get intermix or IMS failure.
I believe we're also diverting ridiculous amounts of water to the Salton Sea to try to slow down its inevitable transformation back into a dry lake bed. I notice that the CA parks dept. now claims that "spring flooding" resulted in the sea's current existence, and not a breach caused by an idiot and a whole lot of dynamite.
It's a cesspool. The sooner it dries up, the better.
