Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

One of you guys with some good welding skills and a desire to make some coin should design a resonator type exhaust... something for us guys who can't quite take the volume of no mufflers but need more than fisters/gundo. Just take the muffler bypass pipe idea and stick a little resonator in the middle of it... Sell em for $500 and you'll sell at least 2... maybe 3.

POST 3Original post

You can get the sound I think you're looking for if you go with a sport exhaust and also swap out the catalytic converters for an X-pipe. I have that combination and it is quieter than no muffler but much louder than the regular sport exhaust. Here is an old YouTube video I took soon after installation: Sound clips for Porsche 996 can with PSE and Fabspeed 200 cell x-pipes - YouTube

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah I like the way that sounds. Thanks!

POST 5Original post

kmagnus, we have a nice option for that... Our SpeedTech 996 sound valve mufflers. With the valves closed they are just slightly louder than stock, no drama - nice sport sound. Open the valves from the electronic remote and the exhaust note comes alive with an aggressive bark. Hit the remote again and return to quiet mode. Definitely the best of both worlds...You can run these as a direct bolt on with OEM cat pipes and the sound is fantastic. No need for any other mods if sound is all you are after - these will do all you want.
