Correct it doesn't adjust any engadegement points but the "perception" of better clutch feel connects you with the points in a real way.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It has no change at all to the actual clutch engagement, engagement point or anything else other than the force needed to push the pedal in and let it out.
By far... The clutch booster spring upgrade is the best 20 minutes and $20 I have ever spent on my 996. I had been gearing up for a clutch job since I bought the car. The clutch felt vague engadgement points were inconsistent and abrupt. So a few months ago I installed a new lighter pressure spring and I love the way the car drives! Feels like it should have from the beginning.
I don't even think I am close to needing a clutch, it was just the stupid oversprung factory spring.
Took me 20 minutes to swap out including explaining to my neighbor what I was doing and why.
Highly recommend to those of you who haven't done it.
Basically you buy a spring that replaces the stock helper spring in the footwell, the only tools needed are a flathead screwdriver and a pair of pliers.
Makes the clutch feel slightly stiffer and makes it function like a normal performance car should.
People sometimes have them for sale here, or you can buy them on eBay regularly.
Simple DIY.
I tried it and went back to the factory spring.
All is does is make the clutch pedal harder to push. It has no change at all to the actual clutch engagement, engagement point or anything else other than the force needed to push the pedal in and let it out.
Personally I think it is more mental perception than anything else. I found if anything it caused more abrupt clutch engagement
Give it a try, you can easily put it back to factory. It is a little PITA to remove and reinstall the booster unit as you need to basically be upside down under the dash to get to it.
YMMV
The spring broke and I first replaced it with a lighter spring , the McMaster Carr spring. I Felt it was still too stiff and put in a factory spring.
As I said, all the spring does is reduce the force needed to push the pedal in and return. The factory spring makes it require less force and the lighter spring would make it need more force.
Having a spring regardless of the force it provides does not change at all where the clutch engages or how fast it engages. The engagement point is exactly the same. How fast you engage the clutch is a function of your foot and leg.
Yes it may "feel" faster as a lighter spring would require more pressure to disengage the clutch and the pedal would return faster with the same amount of foot/leg pressure in relation to a heavier spring.
So the perception is faster clutch engagement.
It will also tire your foot/leg faster, especially in rush hour traffic
Correct it doesn't adjust any engadegement points but the "perception" of better clutch feel connects you with the points in a real way. For me the change in driving experience was paramount.
I commute 75 miles per day in terrible traffic and have not regretted it once. It probably helps that I don't rest on the clutch in stop and go, I pop my car in neutral. And was doing that well before this mod.
I also have a Corvette, and the clutch is much lighter than the Porsche. I about shove clutch peddle through the firewall now when I drive the vette after driving the 996 for a while.
What ever works best for you is the way to go.
I guess the lighter clutch booster spring thing is similar to installing a Sprint Booster. No real performance increase, just how it feels
I personally prefer a lighter clutch feel
I never keep it in gear and the clutch in other than when I am ready to move. If I am stopped , it is in neutral
