Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You my friend sound like a 996'er that basks in the comfort of having already replaced said IMSB.

I am sure you are right, I had two other occasional misfires, replaced those two coils.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You have an '03 with 14K!
Skip plugs, go directly to replacing IMSB, do not pass GO, do not collect $200. I'm begging you...
Let's see what I started....
I would consider changing the plugs when you are doing some other maintenance. I just changed my plugs at 45K miles, along with the coil packs. It's a bit of work, but nothing you can't do in a day, I took my bumper and mufflers off.
You don't have to do it now, but add it to a list to do sometime in the future.

For you all, I have done all the gremlins that could affect my beauty, and yes the IMS bearing is done. That was first on the list. Its a very healthy happy champ!
I've got a red-beast 911 Carrera a few years ago. I always wanted a Porsche, it's like a childhood dream, which doesn't make sense at all because I'm a grown-up man with two kids and have to drive a minivan or something.
I've changed the spark plugs when I reached 62.000 miles and I did it myself. Not sure how much it costs to take it to a dealer, I just thought I didn't want to spend extra cash. My parents got in trouble with a mortgage loan - they live in Essex - and I will definitely need money to help them pay it off. And I also hired a mortgage consultant,
Mortgage Advice Essex
, so I can't spend much on my red babe.
Here is the deal on a auto/car technical forum - we don't really care how your parents are fairing, or about your kids and a minivan, but we do really care about the condition of your spark plugs at 62K miles and why you decided now was a good time to change them out for new. New plugs, new coil packs? Mufflers on or mufflers off? What else did you do while in there? See...technical stuff about your car/engine, not a peep about your mortgage consultant.
Ohh..and yes, grown up people drive 996 Porsche and even....gasp...like them and drive them everyday.
If it were my car I would be replacing them along with the coil packs. Age comes into play with how well a part will perform. Also, not that difficult of a job, although challenging.
However, I agree with some of the others here I would be more concerned about the IMS, fluids, water pump, and water hoses before the plugs. Especially since it runs well. Rubber breaks down over time and fluids decay.
Best,
Is the Bosch FGR 5 KQE0 the best plug to use? I notice pictures of four pronged plugs. Any problem with only doing side at a time?
Doing the coils as well, Im chasing a misfire that only shows up when it is wet outside, so probably not the coils, but figure might as well if I am in there. Anything else I should do while I have it apart?
Thanks
I am sure you are right, I had two other occasional misfires, replaced those two coils. now I have 1 and 3. I think it was 2 and 4 I replaced earlier. I figure if I have the muffler off, only takes 10 min. might as well do the spark plugs and the spark plug tubes as well.
