Suggestion
If there's snow or salt, then I'm not driving it in order to keep it clean, but being able to take it out just for use regardless of temp would be nice.

Suggestion
Probably down the road when I find a good deal on rims or maybe a package deal with some used all seasons that would fit.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello my name is Aaron from SoCal, I just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a 2003 cab 996 with Tip off my buddy for a steal.
Im gonna do a few upgrades and hopefully do a few laps here and there on the track.
my question is I just purchased very clean bbs sport design (gt3 style)wheels 18x7.5 and 18x10 I believe. What front and rear tire would be good for this setup.
I was looking at 285/35/18 for rear and 235/40/18 for the front.
currently looking at sumitommo HTRz5
or federal evolution st-1
i would prefer a tire I could rotate side to side at least.
Anyone run those sizes above?
Here is my 2002 cab on sport designs. 235/40/18 front, 265/35/18 rear. Tires and wheels came with the car. The Hankook rubber wouldn't have been my first choice but I had them peeled off and reinstalled after I refurbished the wheels until I wear them out.
thanks for the pick nice car same as I have, so no rubbing on the fronts or back? You think the 285/35. will fit on back also would you stay with 235 fronts or go to 245/40
I have Sumitomo Z5s in that size on my Targa and like them a lot. Michelin Pilot Sports get all the love but considering I can get two sets of Z5s for one of the PS it's kind of a no brainer to me. I don't track the car either, so any additional performance the Michelins might provide would be lost on me.
I guess the main motivation for having some all season tires here would be to be able to drive regardless of temperature. If there's snow or salt, then I'm not driving it in order to keep it clean, but being able to take it out just for use regardless of temp would be nice. Probably down the road when I find a good deal on rims or maybe a package deal with some used all seasons that would fit.
IMHO Stick with 235/40-R18 in front and 285/35-R18 in back.
Before I got my OZ wheels, I was running Carrera IIs(18x7.5 & 18x10) and had Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 225/40R18 & 285/35-R18.
Now with the OZ(18x8.5 & 18x11) I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 235/40-R18 & 285/35-R18.
No rubbing with any of these tires.
I do have coilovers now, but had stock suspension for a while with the Carrera IIs.
The original spec size is 285/30/18 which is hard or maybe impossible to find. If you install a taller tire on the rear it will slow the 0-60 time. You probably have to find the best compromize .
These sizes are my current choice for my new Michelin's at the end of the month. In my thread I wanted to go to 285/35/18 and keep the fronts either stock, or go up to 225/
45
/18. The rear size seem to be a no brainer alternative but searching I can't find anyone running them. I'm not into "wider is better" for the street and I didn't want the bulging sidewall look on my 8" rims but it seems the 235/40's are a popular alternative. Your rims are 8.5", so let me know what you think about my 8" but I'm thinking they'd be about the same as your original setup on 7.5 rims. Funny how just one size either way makes a difference. My Rubicon isn't quite so sensitive about tire size.
Yup, the tire calculator shows a 2% speedo error over stock.
